Dr Tom Z. Liang

Tom Zhe Liang, M.D., is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology, specializing in gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreas pathology. He is passionate about delivering high-quality, subspecialized diagnostic care through close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. His clinical and research interests include pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and colorectal cancers, with additional interest in emerging digital and molecular approaches to cancer diagnostics.Dr. Liang earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, where he also completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and served as Chief Resident. He went on to complete an oncologic surgical pathology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he was Chief Fellow, followed by a gastrointestinal/liver pathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Liang was a faculty member at USC. He has received recognition for …excellence in both research and teaching, including awards from MD Anderson, the Pancreatobiliary Pathology Society, and Johns Hopkins. He has published over twenty peer-reviewed articles and has presented research at national meetings.Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring nature, and following football, baseball, and basketball.
