My experience with Dr. McGuire was NOT GOOD at all. Due to elevated BP my labor was induced, however my baby was not tolerating labor well. Dr. McGuire was the OB/GYN on call that day & made the decision to perform an emergency C-section. The only positive thing I can say about this doctor is that he delivered my baby quickly so it could be stabilized by the NICU team. My C-section incision began to "seep" a clear yellowish liquid with an odor & continued to do so for numerous weeks post-op. I mentioned this to Dr. McGuire at my follow-up appointment and was assured that this was normal. The next day I had an appointment with my family practice physician & asked for a 2nd opinion about my incision. After taking one look at the incision, I was told that yes it was infected. A culture of the seepage was done immediately, and I was prescribed antibiotics. The culture came back that it was "group B strep" infection. After completing that round of antibiotics, my incision… showed very little improvement. Shortly after completing the round of antibiotics, I had another follow-up appointment with Dr. McGuire & told him about my visit with the family practice physician (about infection, culture results, antibiotic treatment). Only then did he take my concerns seriously and agreed that yes it was infected and prescribed me another round of antibiotics...even though 2wks prior he said my incision looked "normal". After the 2nd round of antibiotics, my incision showed a slight improvement but still was not properly healed. So I went to my GYN of several years (who no longer delivers babies, but teaches at a prestigious university) for my annual visit & got a 2nd opinion about my incision. My GYN was shocked at the condition of my incision. I was then prescribed a 3rd round of antibiotics & told to follow up within a week of that visit. After 3 rounds of antibiotics and approximately 2.5 months post-op... my c-section incision finally healed. My scar is not smooth like all of the C-section scars I have seen previously...it is jagged like when you try to cut paper with dull scissors.

I have been to him a few times now. Very nice and caring.I had to wait so long because he had a ton of patients, but id say they go as fast as they can. He listens well but acts like he is in a hurry. If you have a lot to discuss...wright down all you want to speak about. I felt very rushed, and forgot some things to ask. He forgets previous appointments, health issues I have,and medicines he gave me...But overall he has been the most helpful, you just have to remind him...Also, he is only human,told me I would not have side effects from a birth control pill and I did, very serious ones.Make sure if you do agree to the pill,ask for a hormone test so its not the wrong levels. I have been to many gynecologist and he is the best out of the ones I have seen.
