Dr. Tong Thanh Ma, MD

My experience with Dr. Ma is not like the others I've read from previous years. No, he does not baby you and he has definite opinions, but his skills have been excellent in my case. He's performed a resection of the colon and several other lesser surgeries on me. He's always been quite kind during my visits/surgeries. I've asked many a nurse this; and even though his demeanor can be perceived as rough, he would be their surgeon of choice.

Was very rude and abusive in the way he yelled at me and his staff

Dr Ma performed surgery on me and I went to the ER with a complication (not an issue of complaint here). The ER contacted Dr Ma and he told them not to do what the ER doctor wanted to do to treat me. Two days later, Dr Ma ordered the same procedure the ER doctor wanted to perform earlier (thus I was in pain for several days for no reason). His office staff are rude and bothered by patients.

I only gave him one star because u have to in order to leave a review!!!Besides his skill n operating room he has nothing going for him.. he's a 5 foot tall bully with No compassion.. he treats staff and patients like crap!!! I will not recommended nor come back to him... Never!!

I wish we read these reviews prior to our experience with Dr. MA. We were advised that surgery began 10:15. We did not see Dr Ma until 12pm. He was not friendly. He did not put my partner fears to rest. He would not take the time to answer questions. He brushed us off and said he will answer questions post op. We did not see Dr. MA after surgery. No instructions from him. AMy partner now has an infection. No one called to see how he is doing post op. I would not recommend this Dr. No bedside manners and he is not professional.

Referred by my primary doctor to the Pembrooke Medical Center, and was seen by Dr. Tong Thanh Ma, the day of my appointment. Dr Ma seemed cold and didn't take time to put me at ease, since this was my first time with Dr. Ma. Spent less that five minutes with the doctor. Didn't leave with good feeling towards my visit. No bedside manners.

Dr. Ma is overbearing, know-it-all,treated me as if I was an idiot, did not stop by post op as he had promised. Extremely poor patient relations skill. It wasn't until I basically told him off that he backed down. Basically, a bully - Dr. Tong Ma.
