This man has no heart. He denied coverage for our child's MRI at OHSU, where he has been going since diagnosed with brain cancer. They said they can do the anesthesia at Kaiser. They did not think it mattered that Kaiser intended to separate our 6-yr-old from us in the lobby and not let us join him in the room where he would get laughing gas. At OHSU and the vast majority of hospitals, including Kaiser in California, parents are allowed in the room. This is uncivilized and needs to change. Kaiser admitted they did not have the training to allow us in the room, and despite that refused to pay for our care at OHSU. We are now obligated to pay about $4k for those 15 minutes to make sure we could be an advocate for our son. And we have many more scans to go. Meanwhile Kaiser Oregon thinks it's the middle ages. Kaiser needs to change its archaic practice.
