Dr. Torri Janet Trice Pierce, MD

I had a very disappointing experience with this OB-GYN during my pregnancy and delivery in 2019, and years later it still weighs heavily on me. After having experiences with other OB-GYNs since then, I now realize the treatment I received was not normal or acceptable. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was also seeing a specialist throughout my pregnancy. During appointments with Dr. Pierce, I frequently felt judged and discouraged rather than supported. I was repeatedly told I likely would not be able to have a vaginal birth because of my size and that my baby would be dangerously large due to gestational diabetes. I worked extremely hard to manage my condition through strict diet and exercise, yet I often felt dismissed and criticized. What made things more confusing was that the specialist I was seeing consistently reassured me and disagreed with many of the concerns being presented to me. The most upsetting part of my experience happened during my induction and labor.… Throughout my hospital stay, Dr. Pierce’s bedside manner was cold and detached. She barely spoke to me during labor and offered no encouragement or guidance during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. At one point, while my mom was getting ice chips, she overheard Dr. Pierce joking with nurses and saying something along the lines of, “How much do you want to bet she’ll be rolled in for an emergency C-section any minute now?” Hearing that devastated me. Instead of feeling cared for and supported, I felt humiliated and written off. I eventually stalled at 9 cm, and thankfully one of the nurses stepped in with compassion and encouragement. She worked with me, helped massage and stretch me, and motivated me through the process. The nurses were truly the only people who made me feel seen and cared for during labor. After delivery, Dr. Pierce never once came to check on me. The only person who visited me postpartum was her nurse practitioner, who showed me more compassion in a few minutes than I felt I received from the physician throughout my entire experience. I became emotional discussing how I felt, and the NP comforted me and held my hand while I cried. My six-week follow-up was also with the nurse practitioner, and after that I never returned to this practice. I hope no other mother feels as unsupported, judged, and emotionally dismissed during such an important moment in her life.

I got admitted on a Saturday to the hospital for child birth. Dr Pierce office did not send my records ( showing I had no need for antibiotics to be administered during childbirth) to the hospital because it was a Saturday. So the hospital in absence of records started antibiotics on me unnecessarily. Also since I did not get the required dilation Dr Pierce put me on a very high dose of inducing agent which led to stress reading on my baby’s chart ! And despite repeated calls she was hard to get to when I was getting induced and laid up in the hospital. She also did unnecessary genetic screening costing me upwards of 200$ in co pay during pregnancy.

Dr Pierce is an exceptional doctor!

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Pierce at 920am. I get there at 915am but Waited for an hour before asking receptionist at the desk will I see Dr. Pierce been waiting? They tell me my last name is different in their system. So they didn't know who I was or why I was sitting in the waiting area. I checked in filled out my name and appointment time. you would think someone would ask if it was a problem. Weird but I figured it's a mistake. Then the nurse calls me in even though she is wearing a plaint t-shirt with no badge takes my vitals. She is writing things down on a piece of paper btw. I wait in the doctors office for another 20 minutes. It's almost 11am. I leave but tell the front desk. They go find that same nurse. She tells me well"next time make your appointment earlier to avoid waiting." I just said good to know. I should watch how I schedule my appointment time to see a doctor! Yeah, she is right. I should know better to have scheduled an appointment with Elite Womens… office point noted! Never again! Sad because I have seen her before. It was an important appointment for me to figure out fertility issues. Been waiting to come in for a month. Took off work just to ensure I get the chance to know what I can do to get pregnant. Very disappointed

I was a patient of dr pierce and went in for menopause issues. She gave me anti depressants. I was so angry. My daughter was diagnosed with a disorder and absolutely no follow up on her test results no explanation and no further test to determine whether she eve had the diagnosis. I had test done that I never received a call about even when first test showed I needed further testing. I had to call the testing facility to get my own results because Dr pierce never called. Maybe she picks and chooses who she wants to give good service. But I will NEVER go back.

I have been seeing Dr. Pierce for about 4 years now and in my view she an experienced doctor, however my overall rating is just two stars, because she needs to significantly improve communication with patients when it comes to tests/lab results. After having important tests done, I had to follow-up several times with the office and was only able to speak to a nurse who gave me her poor interpretation of the test results and that I had to follow-up again in several months. Doctor never called me to explain the results. She used to have a terrible office staff/receptionist few years back, the new personnel is much more friendly now.

She jumps at slightest opportunity to do a C section, she's afraid to take on "complicated" cases (like twins, non Americans ). Her staff are not professional . I do not recommend.

The office staff is very unprofessional. They are not discrete about your information when they call you up to front window. Everyone in the office will know why you're being seen. I had to wait 45minutes or longer before I was called to the back. The reason I chose to never return was because I had lab drawn and no one ever called me back with the results. I decided to call just to make sure everything was normal. In fact it wasn't. I got no appologies just attitude from the staff. The doctor never called me back. It was nothing life threatening, but if it was I can trust that they would call and let me know. So I never went back!

Dr. Pierce was not friendly. I first spoke with a nurse telling her every concern that I had. She was absolutely the best. However, she told me that dr. Pierce would come in and get more details and get to know me. When the dr came in she knew nothing about why I was there and when I told her I had given all the details to the nurse she said oh I bet she wrote it in the notes. So basically she came in not knowing a thing about me. I was told I'd receive a call when my results came in. I never did. And my health was not taken seriously by this lady. Very unprofessional and the staff is not as friendly as people in other reviews have stated. I' ll never return and would not recommend this dr.

I have been seeing Dr. Pierce for about 6 years now and she delivered my 2nd child in Katy. She is so sweet, patient, and informative. She really listens to you when you have questions and concerns. I would recommend her to anyone!!!
