Dr. Traci Lenae White, MD

HORRIBLE UNPROFESSIONAL PSYCHIATRIST. She thinks everyone is an addict and doesn’t care about their actual mental health. So disrespctful in how she talks to patients . Do not see her unles you want more issues .threatens her clients by telling them they aren’t plowed prescriptions without certain things done even if they’ve never had any issues .

Dr. White, although probably means well, she treats patients addicted to prescription drugs with more prescription drugs. You can not treat a pill addict with more pills. At one point my husband was on 7 different prescriptions. She told us that Subutex and Suboxone were not addictive. FALSE. She told us that Cymbalta was not addictive , FALSE. She gave my husband ADD medication and then wanted to send him to an expensive rehab house when he abused the ADD medication. My husband abused almost every medication she gave him to "Help" him not be an addict. She gives addicts pills which keeps the addict coming back to her to get the pills. She does monitor the prescriptions and she does drug test at every session. She drugs test right in the middle of her waiting room, which is so humiliating and I am sure breaks every HIPA rule. I believe my husband tolerated this abuse because at this point he was brainwashed into thinking he had to stay under her care to get the pills. She treated… my husband for 7 years for prescription opiate use. We were private pay and we paid her thousands of dollars. Her method of counselling is less than effective. I believe the patient becomes dependent on her for the prescription pills she gives to them. Finally after 7 years of prescription pills, expensive weekly drug testing, bi weekly therapy sessions, weekly men's groups my husband finally had the courage to leave her care. He joined AA , stopped using all of the prescription medication and has been sober and in a great place for almost 3 years. I think Dr. White's heart is in the right place as far as really wanting to help patients get clean and sober but as long as she uses a pharmaceutical based , fear based, humiliating model to treat patients she will never( in my opinion) be an effective help to the addict. My husband, since leaving Dr. White, has completely changed his diet to a very clean diet, practices Rieki, acupuncture, aromatherapy,meditation, and contemplative prayer and attends his AA group almost daily. Dr. White did encourage my husband to attend AA while in her care but he refused. I believe that while under Dr. White's care, my husband did not want to get well because then there would not be a need for the prescription drugs Dr. White was prescribing. I would speak to Dr. White about my concerns of trying to cure his disease of prescription pills with more prescription pills and that I thought he should take a much more Eastern approach to sobriety. She would immediately dismiss me and her most quoted line " I am the expert, you are not the expert" " Your husband must do everything exactly as I prescribe or I will not be his doctor" It was a very bizarre 7 years of treatment and I blame myself for allowing it to go on as long as it did. Dr. White is a cookie cutter treatment plan with Pharmaceutical based treatment. She has brochures in her lobby from the pharmaceutical companies advertising drugs. If this is what you are looking for then she is your doctor but in my opinion you will never be free of your addiction if you are treating chemical addiction with more chemicals. The reason I have written this review almost three years after leaving Dr. White's care is so that this might help another addict struggling with pill addiction to seek help outside the traditional pharmaceutical based practice. Again, I do believe that Dr. White cares about her patients and I do believe that she truly believes that her methods are the ONLY way to treat an addict. But, for this family, the methods were very ineffective.

She is definitely not lazy; she jumped right into my case. However, she didn't like it when I asked questions; she didn't feel I needed to know about my own care -- she actually scolded me for asking questions to better understand what test results meant and the implications. After about 12 appointments, I didn't see her again after the "Scolding Episode" occurred. Not cool.

Her nurses are absolutely rude, incompetent and a nightmare to work with. Every time I am in the waiting room I have to watch them eat take out in front of me. As for Dr. White, she is very assertive. My daughter would break down crying after every meeting because of her approach. I would not recommend her to anyone. Very unprofessional and very quick to call behavior "addict behavior."

ALL SHE WANTED TO DO WAS EXPENSIVE INJECTIONS. SHE DID NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT MY LEVEL OF PAIN.

Was able to send me to a separate clinic. "Right Step" in Dallas which helped me rid myself of a physical addiction to long-term benzo use.I was able to check (force) myself out after a week, and have never had the urge to seek out benzos again after 4 months. Honestly, that is done with. I had a bad psychiatrist that kept upping my dosages that got me in trouble and caused me to seek out Dr. White's help.Unfortunately I was treated like an addict-out-of control, when it was a very poor diagnosis on the part of Dr. White.As far as Dr. White, I think she lacks in empathy and is a bit ADD herself, and some of her staff agreed with the ADD part.
