Dr. Tracie Traver, MD

Horrible! She was so rude to me. I am pregnant with my first and had so many questions- as I should. She just acted completely annoyed by me. I asked if it was safe to get my nails / hair done then asked if it was safe to use a self tanner product. She turned around for the first time from the computer screen since she walked in and said judgmentally “it is winter” and turned back around without answering any questions. I didn’t feel comfortable asking any more questions after she responded in such a rude manor. I feel like seeing her was a huge waste of time as there was nothing accomplished and I still have so many questions. I have decided do switch practices and go to UT for my OB needs.

Traver was my doc because I downgraded my insurance company was no longer scheduled to see my actual doctor, Nancy Garza. These two doctors ignored cancer symptoms for years when I was so confident that my issue was breast cancer. It was stage 4 when a new doc at their office finally diagnosed it, and my records were erased not long after that. The lawyer I spoke with was well aware of Traver and ‘wanted her license.’ I only had testimonials of friends and loved ones who could bare witness to my breast cancer concerns over a 2-3 yr period. In TN patients need solid evidence to win a malpractice suit. I chose to fight the cancer instead of the people in trusted with my health, and I don’t regret it. I am almost 5yrs cancer free; it was in 4 different organs when diagnosed. Monthly chemo costs were $93,000/month charged to insurance. I had 4 treatment periods over 2yrs with and average of 8wks in between treatments. My fingernails started to peel away and bleed from the chemo. I was on… Abraxane, Perjeeta, and...1 more (don’t judge the spelling). I underwent radiation, a radical and recent active mastectomy, and a Latinos Doris flap reconstruction. My road has been long and tiring, and I wish they both had listened. I am thankful to be alive, but find a better physician if possible. My Internist informed me and a poster in my surgeon’s office confirmed that bloody discharge is presumed to be cancerous until proven otherwise by further testing i.e. an ultrasound or biopsy. I was told by Traver’s colleague that she has an interest or degree in robotics or computer science. I don’t know if she can delete her system, but she no longer works for BMH. It was noted in my chart for at least 2 yrs. that I thought I had cancer. All of their patients records were deleted after my diagnosis by a jr doctor in their office. There are many unanswered questions and a lot of speculation. If there were ever 2 doctors who had genuinely missed a huge issue, it is Traver and Garza. I occasionally search for their reviews to leave my story as a warning. Garza is very personable, but not a good doctor. Traver is fast but also not a good doctor. I am lucky to be alive.

I hope that someone that is in need of a Dr. that cares reads this review. Not only did she misdiagnose me, but when she did a surgery on me and then 2 years later had to do an emergency surgery on me because she did not diagnose the first surgery correctly, never once came by to see if I was O.K. after the surgeries. As a matter of fact I was notified that she had left town both times. I am not saying that she should not have a life, but because of her I almost lost mine. I do not recommend her to anyone and as a matter of fact have told many ladies to stop seeing her and they have. When I notified her after the first surgery that the pain meds she prescribe for me, and never had taken them before, that I had not urinated in 24 hours and had become overly bloated, I was told that she would call me back within the hour. I called at 9:00 am and had called back at 1:00 pm as she had not called back and again was told that she would call back within the hour. Finally at 3:45 I called… back and she had left for the day so her associate told me that I was allergic and called me in another script. I just find her to not be very interested in her patience, and after talking with other women, have found that they feel the same way. Her staff is not that observant either as after being called into a room and told to undress, I sat there for over an hour and finally asked if I had been forgotten. The reply was "I'm sorry, we don't usually have patients in these room down the hall this late in the day". It has just been an all around night mare. The only reason for this review is to help another looking for a more observant and caring Dr.. I am not one that wants anyone hovering over me, but it would have been nice that she would have at least showed that she was even interested in the surgery that she had preformed and her patient and at least checked with her patient at least once after each surgery while in the hospital and not just waiting until the post op checkup.

Dr. Traver is a not only a fantastic doctor but also a fantastic person. She always takes as much time as I need and answers all my questions. Eventhough she is very knowledgeable in her field and keeps up with the current research, she never makes me feel embarrassed or as if I don't know what I'm talking about. She is so at ease with herself, it makes you feel at ease as well. She also gives her time and money to local organizations. A great community leader!
