Dr. Tracy Shawn Pitt, DO

Dr. Pitt performed my VSG in Oct 2018. It is literally the best thing I've ever done for my health. Not only have I lost 60 lbs (to goal weight), my AIC has dropped from 8.2 to 5.4. Nothing short of a miracle in under 6 months. Dr. Pitt is friendly, yet completely professional. He answered all my questions, even the ones I had the day of surgery--he came in to talk to me prior to anesthesia to address any last minute concerns. He did an excellent job on the surgery, I have had no issues, and no complications. He made sure prior to surgery that I knew what I could expect, and what was unreasonable to expect, from the surgery. My BMI was only 30, meaning many surgeons would not do the surgery on me. JourneyLite will do the surgery at 30BMI with co-morbidities like diabetes. (It is of course self-pay at that weight, but reasonable pricing and worth every penny if you can afford it. I do realize I am privileged to be able to do so.) I had opted for the SIPS procedure (a… modified duodenal switch), but when Dr. Pitt was doing the surgery, he came across unexpected adhesions that made the intestinal move part of the surgery more dangerous. He consulted with the other surgeons in the practice, who agreed it wasn't worth the risk. My husband gave approval to do the sleeve only. I was very disappointed with this, wanting the switch to ensure my diabetes was eliminated. Dr. Pitt reassured me that he felt the sleeve was sufficient to address that issue, and explained that the adhesions made the additional surgery dangerous to my liver. Though I remained nervous, as you can see from above, both my diabetes and excess weight have been taken care of with the sleeve. Dr. Pitt definitely made the right decision, and I have no issues with absorption, and no major changes to the rest of my digestive tract. I couldn't be happier with my surgery, and with Dr. Pitt. I highly recommend him.
