Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:While living in North Carolina, I learned of the Physician Assistant (PA) profession. I received medical care by Air Force PAs and also civilian PAs who practiced in primary and specialty care. I was impressed with the PA's wealth of knowledge, communication skills and accessibility to name a few. PAs can practice in all medical specialties throughout one's lifespan. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree, I moved home to Pennsylvania and went on to earn my Master's Degree in Health Science/Physician Assistant Studies. In May 2021, I earned my Doctor of Medical Science degree. What I want my patients to know about me:I've been working with WellSpan for over two decades. Previous specialties included general/vascular surgery and occupational health. I enjoy getting to know my patients beyond their medical condition as I believe this assists in treating the whole patient, plus I love the interaction! I will work with you in a shared …decision-making style while following evidence-based medicine guidelines to improve your condition. One of my goals is to explain your medical condition in a way that you can understand it. Educating my patients is a priority! Before you leave the office, I want you to understand how to use your medicines, inhalers, or CPAP machine and understand why they are prescribed. Hopefully then you'll be more compliant with their use and can obtain a greater benefit. I encourage you to reach out to me if you have questions. I never stop learning, whether it's from my talented colleagues, journal readings, or continuing medical education conferences.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:I often joke that my 2nd full-time job is that of an unpaid Uber driver for my kids! All joking aside, I'm grateful that our local school and community provide great programs that my children are involved in like scouting, Tae Kwon Do & swimming. I have two young Black Belts living in my home! My husband of over 21 years also works in the medical field. He's a "foodie" and an amazing cook and we have fun trying new cuisines. We like traveling and getting outdoors with our children, making family traditions.
