Dr. Desselle is an understanding, professional psychiatrist that I have been seeing for several years now. He is easy to talk to and explains the medications and always asks about side effects. I highly recommend him.

Two reviews are misleading which reduces the average rating. One apparently doesn't understand the scoring system and gives Dr. Desselle only one star, but praises him as an excellent doctor who is easy to talk to. Another reviewer doesn't understand the role of the medical director who evaluates and prescribes, rather than providing psychotherapy. My experience today was that Dr. Desselle asked probing questions, found and corrected errors in Rx history and diagnosis, and had excellent communication and diagnostic skills.

Dr. Desselle is awesome. I've been seeing him for several years. He really cares about me and how I am doing. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Deselle is part of the behavioral medicine unit at Ochsner. He is hard to get comfortable with because of his arrogant demeanor. The whole unit was a waste of time, because this doctor was only interested in changing prescription medicines, even though he didn't know me at all. I strongly recommend that people stay away from him.

He does not understand what mental illness is. I tried to tell him what happened to me but he says he administers medicine. If I wanted therapy I would have to go to a psychologist.
