She is the BEST!

Iâ??m a US board-certified family physician and that in my entire medical career, I never thought I would ever have to speak ill of a colleague. But I feel I need to speak on behalf of my father. He was admitted at the Stroke Unit of San Diego Medical Center. She wanted to place my father in a general ward until my cousin (who is also a US doctor) insisted on a monitored bed. While there, he had vomiting, chest pains and shortness of breath. She wanted to discharge him home on the 5th day. I voiced out that he was still medically unstable but she flatly refused to do any further work-up. For the first time since I became a doctor, found myself threatening this supposedly hospitalist just to make it clear that I will hold her liable if something happened to my father. As I write, my father`s discharge papers are being prepared. I figured that it`s useless to argue since it`s just one stupidity after another. Better to just get my father out of there while he`s still breathing.
