Dr. Umar Latif, MD

Dr. Latif was very knowledgeable about medications in general and was open with me about my treatment plan/goals. This visit finally gave me some hope again.

Dr. Latif is absolutely excellent. Compassionate, very present when with a patient, and well-informed on psychiatric research and facts. He seems genuinely interested in the world, in his patients, and in science (especially as it pertains to psychiatry). He has started programs to improve care for people with mental illnesses. If we have a lack of good mental health resources, or a system that doesn't treat people like whole human beings, it's because we don't have enough Dr. Latifs. His staff seems to really look up to him, too. Great doctor.

Dr. Latif takes time with patients who need it, asking impressively penetrating diagnostic questions to help him understand his patient's psychological state. He knows things about mental disorders and treatment that other excellent members of his profession know nothing of (I've brought up the same issue to multiple docs, and only he could give an answer, and a ready and expert answer at that!). He is a leader - starting a program for military personnel, opening a clinic that uses cutting edge diagnostic and treatment methods, and so on. He is highly approachable, putting a nervous patient at ease. And he is highly attuned to his patient's unspoken concerns: he has repeatedly responded to my concerns when I had not actually articulated them to him. He knows the answers - and even the questions!- that the rest of us wish we could find. Great doctor.

I hope Ill never have to find another. Because Dr. Latif would be impossible to replace.

He listens, he is attentive. He is smart. Great doctor. He has helped me tremendously.

Dr. Latif genuinely cares about all aspects of my life and what my current situation might be. He is very hesitant in prescribing medications to me explaining medication is only a partial solution to my need for care. He is an excellent doctor and a fine man.

I have been a patient of his for 12 years and he is the tops. Sure he is laye sometimes and appts change sometimes. So what. Go to him for the best in this area.
