Dr. Upender Gehlot, MD

I was referred to Gehlot by another Dr. Within 10 minutes of the first session he decided I was bipolar and refused to listen to anything I had to say. I was asked a series of questions about mania and felt pressured to agree as he was a bit snarky when I questioned him. I was then put on medications that made me feel worse, thanks to a misdiagnosis. Please do not go here, find someone else.

The whole staff at the office was very warm and welcoming. They took the time to listen to me and not only listened but sympathized as well. Then I met Dr. Gehlot himself. Talking to him was not a problem at all. He’s very attentive and took the time necessary to explain everything to me. Not only do I feel confident in his care, I’m 100% comfortable in recommending him.

I was referred to see Dr. Gehlot when I was 13 for my anxiety issues, and it was an incredibly traumatic experience. The nurse that initially took my medical history made argumentative and accusatory assumptions about my family which we had to correct her about multiple times. But Dr. Gehlot was by far the worst part. I went to the appointment knowing I had social anxiety which had caused significant issues in my life, but during his evaluation he told me that “well obviously social anxiety isn’t your problem” which went against everything I had been telling him. He then drew me a rudimentary drawing of bipolar disorder and told me that’s what he thought I had. I said that I had no idea because I’d never even considered that before. His answer was that I needed to go home and decide if I was bipolar and then call him and he would send medications to my pharmacy. Dr. Gehlot completely disregarded everything I said during the appointment and wanted me, a 13 year old, to basically… diagnose myself. This messed up my mental health for a long time afterwards, but now years later I have seen multiple different doctors who agree that social anxiety is my issue and that to suggest bipolar was baseless and manipulative. I never went back to see him again and strongly recommend against selecting him as your doctor.

From beginning conversation to diagnosis and execution, Dr. Gehlot has drastically changed my life in two months time. He was so fast to narrow diagnosis and left me with something to think about. Once I spoke with him as a follow up two days later, I was provided the beginnings to the medication needed to set me on the right course. Truly, if any of you suffer from anxiety, potential Bi-Polar, or other issues, please go see Dr. Gehlot. He is so caring and helpful.

First real, accurate diagnosis in 15 years. . . No joke! I'm so happy I found his practice; and his staff was wonderful, too!
