Dr. Usha Ramineni

Stay away from her, called her about an emergency situation on Tuesday, receptionist got back on Wednesday afternoon(!), said doctor will call. Week later, no callback. Every appt she did was like it was the first. She either makes no notes or doesn't read them before appts. Zero care.

This is the first review I have ever written in my entire life if that tells you anything. I was told to see Dr. Ramineni and when I went in to see her she shooed me out. She delegitimized my experience and what I was dealing with. She had no empathy. She cancelled my appointment on the spot by telling me she could not help me. This experience threw me off for days and I am still scared to see a psychiatrist to this day because of her. She should not be a doctor. Please listen to this review for your own good. I do not want someone to go through what I had to go through.

This was one of the meanest, coldest people I've ever met. I had no will to see this woman as an adolescent when my mom booked the appointments, I even demanded I stop seeing her in early adulthood. She never wanted to listen to what I was trying to convey, never explained her reasoning for diagnoses. I left her office feeling more confused and judged than helped. Come college, I realized I was in over my head and needed to be re-prescribed Adderall and Wellbutrin as she had prescribed me in the past. In the past, she had prescribed me with Adderall for ADD and Wellbutrin for my depression. So I was going thinking I was going to be represcribed those two things from her. She told me she could no longer treat me unless I went through "psychological testing" which was never something she asked me to do before. When my results came in they said I should have been treated for anxiety and adhd. So she falsely diagnosed me. Also whenever I broke down about real things she would rudely get… quiet, stare at me, and wait till I was done; saying nothing to comfort me at all.

I saw this doctor approximately ten years ago to treat my ADHD, a condition I was diagnosed with when I was ten years old. At that time she readily prescribe my (needed) medication. When I returned for treatment at the behest of my psychologist this extremely unprofessional doctor told me she would be unable to treat my ADHD without a psychologist re-diagnosing my condition via very specific testing that apparently none of the psychologists in Psycare offered. She then handed me a hand written list of people she had heard performed this testing from other patients. After calling the names on the list half of them would not return calls and the other half only treat children. Frustrated, I returned to Dr. Ramineni who quite literally told me it wasn’t her job to help me find someone to assist in the diagnosis and that she was just being “helpful.” Lord knows she wanted to prescribe me lots of Prozac though....for my non-existent depression. If there is anyone else you can see, please… see them. Mental health is a difficult hurdle for some of us and we don’t need our doctor to be the biggest hurdle we have to face. I will be calling the California Medical Board to file additional complaints as I found her “treatment” to be less compassionate than that of my last Uber driver.

If you care about your mental health DO NOT VISIT THIS DOCTOR. She has no empathy, is extremely rude, and only cares about money. I have never left a psychiatrist actually feeling worse about myself until I met her. If you are assigned to this woman do yourself a favor and switch to literally ANY other person. Appointments start 20-30 mins after the scheduled time and when you walk in she acts like it’s the first time she has ever met you, she can’t be bothered to remember a single thing about you or show any type of compassion. When it comes to medications, she will put you on whatever makes her the most money and only gives you 1 month prescriptions so you are forced to pay her and visit her more than what is necessary. I’ve never had such an awful experience with a doctor and have no idea why she is still allowed to practice this profession. Psycare needs to do something about this, her level of care is unacceptable. On top of this, the receptionists treat you like trash and roll… their eyes at you if you express any concern. Mental health concerns are difficult to deal with and these people don’t do anything but perpetuate stigma and belittle their patients.

She’s so rude and doesn’t care about her patients, she’s got her own metal health issues that she needs to work on before trying to treat other people.

We have seen Dr. Ramineni a handful of times to address my adolescent son's ADD and other behavioral issues. On one occasion she was assessing my son, then realized that she was reviewing the wrong medical file. However, on this last occasion (this week), she spent the majority of our 15-minute session watching the clock (that started 5 minutes late because she was late). When my husband and I addressed our concerns with his current medication and depression side effects, she, without any lead-in or approach, bombarded my son with questions about depression and suicide (with a 2 minute window). This was ALSO at 8am on a Monday. She was fully aware that he would be leaving this appointment to go straight to school. Her approach and facilitation of this discussion was so neglectful and inappropriately handled. It has been 24 hours and she has yet to even follow-up. And, to add to the appaling unprofessionalism, when she looked at his medical record to review the medication… that was prescribed to my son before seeing her (another Psychiatrist in the PsyCare practice), she commented, "I probably should not say this, but the reason Dr. Chin is no longer in practice here is because she went over the time limit with patients".

She treated my sister and had her on the wrong dosage prescription. My sister was on a roller coaster, stable then unstable for over 10 years but we thought it was normal because she was being treated by Dr. Ramineni. Dr. Ramineni refused to communicate with me even though I had a signed Authorization on record. She told my sister to tell me to never call her again. My parents took my sister in to her appointment and Dr. Ramineni refused to talk to my parents and only talked to my sister. When my mother continued to talk to Dr. Ramineni, Dr. Ramineni threatened my mother that she will put my sister in handcuffs and chains at the county mental hospital. After we found another psychiatrist for my sister, the current psychiatrist had my sister stablized within weeks. The psychiatrist said Dr. Ramineni had my sister on the incorrect dosage and outdated medicine. I filed a formal complaint.

Poor bedside manner. For a child psychiatrist she didn't seem concerned with the severity of our situation other than suggest "parenting problems". As parents we felt our concerns and suspicions were brushed aside as one of our other children is diagnosed with a condition that presents just like our child's current symptoms. She did not "feel comfortable" treating our child and told us to find somebody else. We practically had to beg for medication to get us through to another provider is found as our child had a bad reaction to another medication and the one medication that does work is apparently involved in tons of lawsuits - even though we only used this one medication as a PRN.
