Dr. Uttam Tripathy, MD

Dr Tripathy is a wonderful,skilled surgeon. He has a great bedside manner and is very compassionate about his patients. His office staff are very professional and courteous, phone calls are returned promptly- I would highly recommend.

I feel I am qualified to make this review as I’m a former cardiovascular surgery nurse. My husband is a patient of his and I’ve been nothing but impressed with his bedside manner and skill. He has been incredibly thorough with his education; even drawing diagrams to help the non-medical people in the family understand the procedure my husband is going to have. As far as his skills, the nurses have had nothing but positive things to say about him. I highly recommend him!

I love Dr. Tripathy! He is extremely professional, great bedside manner and explained to me, in great detail, what to expect prior, during and after, my triple bypass surgery. Additionally, he has a great sense of humor! He was so kind and sweet to my 2 daughters, who were extremely anxious about my procedure. We have developed a great rapport with this wonderful doctor. I am so happy that my cardiologist, Dr. Htut Win, referred me to him. Can't thank you enough-you're the best! I would refer Dr. Tripathy, in a heartbeat.

Dr. Tripathy is one of the best vascular surgeon in Houston, Texas. He is very knowledgeable and very professional. I can attest that God is good and Dr. Tripathy too. They both gave me a second life. His clinic is also one of the best run office with outstanding medical assistants.

My moms needed to have a fistula (surgery 1) put in her arm and she decided to have Tripathy place it since he had done so great on her bypass a few years earlier... (big mistake) The fistula was placed on her inner upper arm and kept rubbing against clothing and eventually got infected. The fistula didn’t function or mature properly so a graph was placed to help. (surgery 2) After this surgery my mom had a lot of swelling in her arm and hand and had little to no function at all and was in so much pain. She called his office several times and would get referred to the emergency room with no calls back from the Dr. At this time I suggested to my mom to see another surgeon to get another opinion but she liked that Tripathy knew her medical history so she didn’t want to see someone new. On to surgery 3, to remove the graph in hopes it would reduce the swelling of the arm and hand and alleviate some of the pain and hope to regain function. A few more weeks go by and the swelling has… not gone away and the pain in her arm and hand is worsening, at this point I am questioning this doctors competence... but she wants to continue going to see him. UGH Finally surgery 4 now, to check to see if there is a clot or blockage somewhere and remove it if needed. He asked if the family has concerns or questions and when I voice my concerns he wants to know why I didn’t come into his office to ask my questions... Not sure why he asked if we had questions if they were only allowed in his office and why did he ask if we had questions if he didn’t want to answer them? He explained the procedure but then followed with the comment “but you wouldn’t understand, your not a doctor” WOAH he’s right, I am not a doctor, but my husband is in the medical field and if I had questions I would ask him. But for Tripathy to pretend to know my education or comprehension level was an insult. He has very poor bed side manner and when he’s asked questions he doesn’t like he talks down to you and makes comments like “young people today are so high strung” ?? The good news is my mom finally took my advise and went to get a second opinion. I took her to see Dr Eric Peden, he sent her to therapy for 6 weeks to help strengthen her arm and hand and has placed her fistula in her forearm with no complications so far. My advise to anyone going to see this quack, unless your needing a bypass definitely get a second opinion.

Dr. Tripathy did my dad’s complicated carotid surgery. He had 95% blockage and Dr. Tripathy saved him & had no complications. He is a phenomenal surgeon! He takes time to explain everything before and after surgery. He cares about the patients and is very passionate about his work. The best CV surgeon in town!

There was a long wait to get to see him but once I met him, he quickly put me at ease, answered all my questions in a very detailed way. I like the fact that inspite of his obviously hectic schedule, multiple calls that he was getting, he spent the time to understand my concerns, answer all my doubts. He really out me at ease. He gave me all the possible options and I liked the fact that he was quite frank. The extensive surgery that I subsequently underwent went just as I had expected.. I would have otherwise not been doing so well as I do now after a valve replacement and a bypass surgery. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

Dr. Tripathy is the nicest and most caring doctor I have ever met. My mother required surgery and even though he wasn't the main doctor performing the surgery, he followed through with us every step of the way. During our consultation, he also took the time to make sure we understood everything and even showed us the ct scan of my mother's lungs. On top of that, he personally called and spoke with us before and after the surgery to make sure that everything was going smoothly which really meant a lot to us.
