Dr. Valbona Behaj, MD

"She filled in at Advent health where I normally go for my sickle cell crisis. She came into my room, ask about my medications that I am on. So I listed them, then asked if I was on hydrea and my response was”no, my doctor and I agreed that it WAS NOT SERVING ME”. She proceeded to tell me that my “labs look okay”, and that she changed the dosage and time on the pain medication that my pain management doctor put in and discontinued the medication that combat the itching I was having. She then stated that the way my medications was set up was incorrect and not allowed by Advent (which was a lie because that’s how the doctors would set them up for me). My response to all of that was “ why didn’t you come and meet me first and have a talk with me before hand?” She responded, but she spoke so fast that I didn’t understand what she said. So I said “excuse me, can you say that again” . Her response to me was “YOU HEARD ME!.” After she said that I immediately request another Doctor. Because… the conversation went from open and polite to confrontational. Her response to me asking for another doctor was “ this is not a doctors office, you don’t get to pick who sees you”. She turned to walk out and said she will get me another Doctor. After that encounter with this women I’ve never met before that dismissed my pain, the aggression she had towards me. I broke down and tried to pull myself back together. But then decide to speak with the charge nurse about the interaction that happened. The charge nurse then got her manager involved In the situation. They reversed every decision she made on my chart. I thought that would be the end of it, but it wasn’t. Behaj went into my chart leaving notes that I stopped taking hydrea on my own( wasn’t the truth). She said she examined me(wasn’t the truth). She said I “was adamant on receiving IV meds”(not true, I was asking questions about my care plan, as I am entitled to do). At the end of all that she adds “suspected drug-seeker behavior”. I have sickle cell anemia and I am/was in crisis! My care plan MATTERS to help me coup and survive a terminal illness that mostly affects African-Americans. I do not go to the hospital until I tried every home remedy for a week. DOCTORS LIKE BEHAJ SHOULD NOT WORK WITH ANYONE! She lacks empathy, sympathy and understanding. 0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!"
