Dr. Valentina Vladimira Bonev, MD

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Bonev. While I was in Mexico City helping coordinate my mother’s cancer surgery, I was told I had to return to California to receive my second breast biopsy results in person. I explained my situation and asked if the results could be given over the phone, but they refused. I changed my international flights, at a cost of over $1,000, because I feared waiting several more days to find out if I had breast cancer. When I arrived, the appointment lasted only a few minutes. Dr. Bonev told me I had a radial scar and needed surgery. When I started asking questions, she told me to discuss them with her assistant instead. I left that appointment in tears, not because of my diagnosis, but because of how I was treated. During one of the most frightening moments of my life, I felt rushed, dismissed, and shown no compassion. I would never choose to see Dr. Bonev again and cannot recommend her. Patients facing a possible cancer diagnosis deserve… empathy, humanity, and the time to have their questions answered.
