I love Dr Augustus! She helped me alot with my depression and anxiety. She was always professional with me.

After reading some negative comments, I wanted to share with you the Dr. Augustus that I know. I can assure you any of the negative remarks are not an accurate reflection of her and if you would actually go visit her, you can see for yourself what an amazing psychiatrist she is. Anyone who says she doesn’t listen to you is not being truthful. I know this because she types the entire time I am talking to her taking notes and at the end of the conversation, reads back what she heard and discusses with me what I should do next. When I return to her office, she reads back a long summary of our last visit and then we talk about what has changed and happened since the last time we spoke. She has done this EVERY SINGLE VISIT for my 7 years so how in the world could she not be listening to her patients? Dr. Augustus is extremely attentive and when you talk to her, she is so focused on your every word. While you talk, she listens intently and after listening for a while she asks… questions about what you have told her that really make you think and look at yourself introspectively. I speak all of my garbled up thoughts, she takes them in, makes sense of what I was trying to say and helps me see myself and what it is that I am struggling with. She can see clearly what I am having so much trouble expressing. She will often bring up a bible verse pertinent to our conversation. Dr. Augustus has been a blessing in my life. She is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend her. Please read her post to her patients on her website if you are troubled by what you heard in the news so that you can have a more complete and accurate view of the situation. Remember that the news exaggerates and sensationalizes to sell newspapers regardless of who they hurt. They are not looking for the truth and you won’t find it there.

Dr. Augustus is very professional and has met my changing needs for many years. Even when I switched doctors for a brief period (no fault of hers), I returned.

Barely listened. Prescribed something (I’m not going to take) without really listening to my issues. Receptionist so unorganized and confused. Will not return.

She whipped patients and took advantage of their vulnerability.

The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners found Dr. Valerie Augustus guilty of violating the Tennessee Medical Practice Act and suspended her license for 30 to 60 days.The board also required her to attend training and fined her $10,000 — or $1,000 for each patient hit with a whip or crop — according to the board's order filed in May.

I was shocked to hear about Dr. Augustus lack of professional practice. Like many patients in the practice, "we have issues". I do not have the time to wonder if she will have to close her doors because of her professional practice.

She is really good at her job. I recommend her ??%.. She is honest and knows what she is doing. It’s really hard to find someone who takes the time and patience to understand and listen and she is very good. ?????????????? Five star rating for sure! If you need to find a doctor in this field look no further... and book an appointment. I transferred from another state so trust me she’s good. Thanks again have a good day!
