Dr. Valerie Anne Harvey, MD

These guys don't know what they are doing and will have you battling with insurance companies for months. They will blame the insurance company when they are at fault for not providing the insurance company with required information. They are playing with peoples health.

If you can get anyone to answer the phone there this office is entirely mis-managed. After calling to check on a referral I’ve been waiting for the staff gave me the name of a doctor that has absolutely nothing to do with my diagnosis, staff never even asked my name, after I repeated my name staff still said I’m being referred to this doctor, after I looked up the doctor and saw their specialty I tried calling back, no one would answer

Trying to get a prescription filled with this place is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. They have a specific line for pharmacy's to use for prescriptions that just goes to a voicemail that they don't check. I've had to stop taking medicine that needs to be taken on specific days 4 different times now because my pharmacy can't get through to these guys to get a prior authorization. I wouldn't recommend this dermatologist to my worst enemy.

I've seen various physicians for a skin condition in the Hampton Roads Area and from my home town of (New Jersey). One visit (1) seeing Dr. Valerie Harvey, who took the time and patience to listen and methodically examine me and analyze a skin sample, I am finally in control of the situation. I highly recommend seeing this professional.

The doctor did not use any kind of magnifying equipment, just a quick visual look at the "top to toe" exam. Was not satisfied that I got a thorough skin exam.

Hands down, Dr. Harvey was the best dermatologist I've ever had. She was very attentive and she actually LISTENED. I would recommend her to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

My dermatologist retired and I needed to find a new one. I found Dr. Harvey. I was scheduled for a full body examination. I was under a paper gown and Dr. Harvey just slightly lifted the gown in a few places as I was laying on the examination table. The examination was a total of 30 seconds max! My former doctor took about 15-25 minutes checking out every spot on my body and documented it on a chart. Dr. Harvey did not take any notes nor do I remember her asking me if I had any areas of concern. I would not recommend her.

She did 2 biopsies. Never called to explain my results, which a colleague at her practice later told me were irregular. Worst though was the fact that one site didn't heal because it should have been cauterized immediately. I've been back twice now to get it cauterized. I'm waiting in the lobby for an extra hour because the scheduler gave me the wrong appointment time. And they keep charging me co-pays even though they clearly screwed this up. Never going to EVMS dermatology again.

I have been seeing Dr. Harvey for about 3 years now and have had nothing but a great experience. She is always prompt, professional, and listens to what I have to say. Also, I really like the fact that she never pushes products on me.
