Dr. Valerie Leah Johnson, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Johnson for many years and I must say that she is truly a godsend! She performed my tubal ligation when I opted for permanent birth control, and my hysterectomy to cure me of the ongoing and unbearable symptoms of numerous uterine fibroids. On top of that she saved my life by discovering an abnormality (while in surgery) which turned out to be cancer in my appendix! I cannot thank her enough! Each procedure was performed successfully with no complications and with exceptional bedside manner. It is a blessing to have such a skilled, caring, genuine, and transparent doctor like her!

Dr. Johnson and her attentive staff have been taking care of me these last 13 years since moving to the Greater Atlanta area. Their kindness, understanding, and excellent care have gotten me through two miscarriages and are now are answering all of my questions and concerns moving through menopause. Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable, she educates you about your care, and offers multiple options to help guide your decision making for your overall health. You get the impression she is very interested in you living your best life. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson as your OB/GYN for any woman at any stage of life.

Dr. Johnson is the only OB I would trust. Have gone to her for all three of my pregnancies. Couldn't recommend her enough.

I am actually shocked by the other not-so-great reviews about Dr. Johnson because my experience has been great so far. I first came to her last year for an annual, and she found out that I had fibroids. I ended up getting and UFE from a separate doctor, because of the large number of fibroids that I had. Fast forward to this year and I am expecting my first baby. Dr. Johnson did blood work on me in the earlier stages and detected that I had calcium in my blood. She referred me to a specialist where I was able to get surgery and still keep my baby. I visit her every 6 weeks. She is always listening to me. Now, she is not a cheerleader so I do not expect the "perkiness" I think that other patients may want. She knows her stuff and has been able to take care of me throughout my pregnancy. That is more important to me.

I selected Dr. Johnson based off a recommendation from classmates. Her bedside manner is terrible. I tried several times to get familiar with her as she would be monitoring my pregnancy, she was very distant. I asked her if she had read my medical file as I had many complications before pregnancy, she said she had but the questions she asked me showed me she had no clue what was in my medical file.or my condition.I had complained many times of being fatigue and informed her I was anemic before getting pregnant and asked of I should be tested. She REASSURED ME that my prenatal vitamins would give me the supplement I needed. I asked again when I would be tested and she said not until 28 weeks. I did not get tested until my PCP tested my Iron and discovered I was still anemic. I had complained for at least 2 months that I had severe itching and did not get tested until another Dr. diagnosed me with ICP and prescribed me medication for somewhat relief. She is negligent and now because of… her I may have to deliver my child early and all she could say was I apologize about your experience. What a LOAD OF CRAP!

Dr. Johnson has been my seeing me for over 10 years. She is very professional and educated in her line of work. I find her to be extremely friendly and caring while delivering the best possible care. She is very thorough and always listens to my concerns. Now that I am pregnant with our first, there is no one else I would feel more secure with during this process.

I had a great experience with Dr. V. Leah Johnson throughout my entire pregnancy. She asked important questions and was patient with me when I came each appointment with a list of questions. I was disappointed that she was not the doctor on call when I went into labor. She followed up by calling me while I was still in the hospital. My biggest complaint is about the wait time in the office. You HAVE to make morning appointments. Anything in the afternoon ... you're going to wait forever -- for any of the doctors. Also, I think it would be helpful if the practice offered a written explanation of what to expect at each upcoming pregnancy appointment like other practices do. I'm sure that I was told what to expect, but with my pregnancy brain, that didn't always translate.

She, and others at AWS, are least bothered about the patients. She did'nt care at all that I lost my baby because she and others at AWS we extremly careless and categorised all the symptoms as "Normal". She would not spend more than 5 mins with you, and even when she is in the room, she is involved with her laptop more than the patient.She didn't care to explain to me what kind of surgery she performed on me, and how would it effect my next pregnancy.... According to her I could have gone pregnant 3 months after a classic C -section... where as the normal rule is that a woman should wait atleast a year after Classical C section.She is the least professional doctor at the practice.
