Dr. Valerie Kardon Lyon, MD

Avoid this doctor and her practice! She deals with you through her "portal" and will charge you a co-pay to speak with you to review your test results. She also charges a co-pay to have lab results done in her office. If I could rate 0 stars I would have.

Doctor Lyon has always taken her time to give a very thorough examination and to ensure that I receive the best possible care. She also treats the whole patient and attempts to identify issues outside the obvious and immediate. Highly recommended.

I have seen her for a few years, but recently, she has become less easy to see and I have had to go through the gauntlet of PA students before reachingh her. This week I spent 45 minutes in the office for a three-minute consultation with her. I do not like this trend. Previously, she was on time, pleasant, a decent diagnostician and efficient. No longer.

I have been going to Dr. Lyon for literally decades (back when her name was Dr. Ravetz). I have always been quite healthy and saw her mostly for check ups and minor issues. She used to spend time talking about issues of concern and serious health issues in my family that worried me. She has referred me to specialists that I liked. But the last two or three times I went for an annual physical, I never would have seen her if I had not asked. An assistant did all the questioning and blood work and tests and then said goodbye without me seeing the doctor. Disappointing for a long time patient. As someone else said, a few weeks later I got a post card with a note saying everything was normal. But recently her partner Dr. Martin (in her absence) referred me to a specialist for something and I received a very frightening cancer diagnosis from that doctor who reported it back to Dr. Lyon. But I never heard from her. I then got a second opinion on treatment that differed greatly from the first.… I later got an email(!) from her through a patient portal saying in effect I'm sorry to hear what you're going through and it must be confusing but you are in good hands. No suggestion that I come in to confer on treatment or to follow up with other health matters or things I can do to improve my situation. Nothing. I have recommended her before but this total lack of compassion and assistance really threw me. I am now looking around for someone new.

I saw Dr Lyon 17 years' ago once! Once! My one visit was a blessing. I went for a physical once I had acquired new insurance. Without going it o personal detail here, Dr Lyon called me a week after my visit to ask if I had made my colonoscopy app't. She said all my tests were normal but she did not want me to think that meant I did not need to see gastro. dr. Well, her call pushed me to take action. And, wouldn't you know, I had a tumor. Nice. Surgery followed and here I am, seventeen years' later, healthy as a horse.

I have been going to Dr. Lyon for 6 years now and she's really wonderful and her staff is very professional. My only complaint is that she is booked so far out so it's hard to schedule a quick appointment

Dr. Lyon is so great. Such a great bedside manner, listens to what you have to say and is just a great all around Dr. I also love they use the portal for results. Makes things so easy. I love the staff there as well.

Dr Lyon is fantastic. It is so rare to find a doctor with any bedside manor these days, let alone a great one that makes you feel like she genuinely cares. I fully believe she does. She is thorough and listens to concerns and answers questions without rushing you. She is also funny and I actually enjoy my visit with her!
