Dr. Vance John Plumb, MD

He has literally been a life saver for me. I get emotional just thinking about the time and caring effort he showed me as a patient and a person. He is very confident and precise. He was a joy during such a nervous and scary time in my life. I reached out to him when other physicians failed me. After two previous failed surgeries to correct extreme SVT and multiple medications from another facility, Dr Plumb was very thorough in being my second opinion. He performed another corrective surgery and did repairs that were needed from previous surgeries. It was a little more complicated, but my over all experience was the best it could be and this surgery was successful. I'm learning to live my life again without fear. I experienced amazing care from him and the staff. I could never thank him enough for helping me get my life back. I completely trust his advice. I would recommend him to anyone, including my own family. Wonderful Person and professional!

He is all business but very knowdledgeable in what he does. He was very nice before my procedure and took a lot of time explaining. However, post-op he was very dismissive to my concerns and was in a hurry and I found him very uncaring. He seems like a grumpy old man.

Deep feeling of trust. I would highly recommend Dr.Plumb and miss seeing him to this very day. I will never forget the years under his care and now 30 years later I am very grateful God placed me in his care.

Just dissapointed that Dr Plumb performed surgery to have a pacemaker inserted and come to find out that the wires are wrapped around Mrs. King veins. I think it is a something that we should not take lightly because it was an error on Dr. Plumb part, something he did not do correctly. So Mrs. King have to go back into surgery 2 days later to have the wire removed and a screw inserted. Causing more pain. I pray that this will not be a long term problem because of human error. My question is how many of these procedures have he performed and from reading up on the insertion of pacemakers why didn't he know that it is advised that you insert on the right side, when he inserted on the left. I am changing my internal medicine doctor and my endocrinologist doctor today from UAB. Too many errors.

He is obnoxious and treats patients with disdain. He needs to retire NOW! He is another sidekick of Dr Kay.

I am afraid it is time for him to retire! He did not touch me his med student (who couldnt understand plain english) examined me. treated me like a wast of his time and i am going for a second opinion. I have had 3 physicians tell me that i have svt an internist, a cardiologist (who doesnt do ep), and a endocrinologist. He needs to reevaluate his personality an explain not talk down especially when someone is in the medical field!!! just goes to show you never know who your talking to!!

Dr. Plumb successfully performed surgery on me to cure a heart arrythmia issue. I owe a great deal to him and his staff of true professionals at UAB. If you are having this same problem, know that you are in excellent hands with Dr. Plumb!
