Dr. Vanessa Quyen Chang, MD

I saw Dr. Chang for a very long time. She was a very "stick to the 15 minutes" and get her out type doctor. She does her routine and then wants the patient out as quickly as possible. She does not spend quality time getting to know her patients. I thinks he gives her blunt opinion on items, but no one should be bullied into thinking her opinion is the absolute truth. They should stick up for themselves too! I had to do that on often occasions and it left me fighting for myself and feeling drained after appointments. I actually felt worse then when I felt going in. I had plans of what I was going to say and they went wasted because she wanted to do her "routine" and get me out of the office. She would tell me "there is no pill for so and so emotional issue". Harsh right? Something you don't really bluntly tell someone with a mental illness in my opinion at least not like that. Maybe some people can take this kind of treatment and if so, then maybe she is the doctor for you, but if you… want someone kind, with some sort of bedside manner and patience for you, I would not recommend seeing her because you won't get any empathy or kindness from her. She is quick and wants you out of her office so she can move to the next patient as soon as possible. Just like a machine or product line. She treated me not like a person, but like a lab rat or product. Give meds, analyze results and move on to the next. Like I had no feelings whatsoever. She would want to argue with me and I am normally a very peaceful person, but if I wasn't going to stick up for myself or treatment, who was? It is MY life after all that she is treating. She would make med changes without any explanation!! That isn't right to me! I want to know why! She would make assessments in two minutes without any explanation. That doesn't make sense to me. How can that be done? I need reasoning and explanation and I think I deserve it. I honestly don't think she cares at all about her patients. They are just the next thing in line on her work bench to "fix".

I've been with Dr. Chang for a couple of years, and the level of care I feel I have been receiving has steadily declined. She was great at first - I even recommended her to several people, but now it feels like I'm just an uninteresting burden when I'm in her office. She barely touches base on my issues, asking short questions disinterestedly staring off while I answer. The little time she used to talk with me was spent blaming me for mismanaging my condition. Perfect. Just what a psych patient needs to hear.

I have been seeing Dr. Cjange for about 7-8 years! She’s reliable, genuinely interested in my well being and is not afraid to tell me what I need to hear rather than what I want I to hear. She is very patient with all my questions and supportive when I am struggling and succeeding!

Dr Chang is a great psychiatrist. She is very knowledgeable, helpful and very kind . She always listens to my concerns and helps me find the best ways to handle any issues I may be having . I couldn't be happier with the care I've received from Dr Chang .

Felt like she was pushing me out the door. Very short appointments and really doesn't delve into what the issues are.

she has NO empathy with one who is suffering PTSD. She is nothing what I had in another state. Am currently looking to replace her

DR. CHANG SEEMS TO BE SERIOUSLY INTRESTED IN THE WELFARE OF HER PATENTS AND SPENDS QUILITY TIME IN THE BEST INTRESTS OF GETTING TO THE UNDERLYINGING PROBLEMS OF HER CHARGES VERY UNDERSTANDING AND TRULY SINCERE

She cares about you and takes the time to talk to you. She listens to you. She helped me in filling out paperwork I asked her to do. Very happy with this doctor.

Dr. Chang was very nice and listened well. I never felt rushed and she seemed to want to help me as much as she can so I start to feel better. She even personally called me to discuss a medication she prescribed. I will continue to see her. Although it does take a long time to get a first appointment for new patients it is worth it.

Dr Chang correctly diagnosed me after being misdiagnosed by 2 former psychiatrists. She listens to me and I feel comfortable talking to her. Past psychiatrists didnt seem to listen or care. I can sit and talk to her without her cutting me off or trying to get to te point. She is very welcoming and I am very happy that she is my doctor. She sees me more frequently than past psychiatrists and I like that she makes herself available if I have a crisis.
