Details of Incident: I scheduled an emergency appointment with Aspen Dental for a broken tooth. I had been a patient but hadn’t visited in two years due to health issues, including chemotherapy. At my visit, a staff member took multiple x-rays. In the exam room, Ashley said she would check my gums. I explained I was missing work and had booked this visit only for my tooth, but would gladly schedule a separate gum evaluation. Dr. Varonica Joseph entered yelling, insisting she had to examine my gums first. When I tried to explain, she raised her voice, talked over me, and accused me of lying about why I was there. Without looking in my mouth, she said: “If you don’t want me to examine your gums, the only thing I can do is extract your tooth.” Suggesting extraction without an exam is alarming… and dangerous. Her refusal to evaluate my tooth left me untreated and in pain, while causing extreme emotional distress. Two staff members apologized and acknowledged my distress. Later, Dr. Joseph fabricated details to the office manager and banned me from all Aspen Dental locations, leaving me without urgent care. ?
