Dr. Varsha B Mehta, MD

If I could give her 0 stars, I would. In my experience, Mehta was negligent, condescending, uncaring and rude. She overbooks her appointments, and makes you wait hours after your scheduled appointment to actually see you. If you have to get back to work because she made you wait for hours, she will still charge you for the appointment she caused you to miss and she will not call in your prescriptions to cover you until your next appointment. She will make you go without the medicine you need to stay well, even if she refused to see you when you were on time for your appointment. Mehta is lucky that we haven't sued her for malpractice.

I had no idea people in the mental health field could be this cold and indifferent to anyone else's feelings. She has outright screamed at me during a session where I was reminding her to check her notes because she got the dosage wrong. Then when I said I didn't appreciate being screamed at she got louder and said, "YOU'RE THE ONE WITH ANGER ISSUES!!!" It was bizarre at best. One other time I left a message at 7pm on a Thursday telling her it wasn't an emergency but I had a question and figured I'd leave a message so she could get back to me whenever she was available. She called me that night at 10:30pm and then yelled at me for 15 minutes for insinuating that she didn't care about me (I didn't...) She's the most volatile human being I've encountered in the medical field. Today she told me she would have to see me in 5 weeks instead of 4. When I told her she did that last time and I would now run out of medicine early she said, "I don't care if you run out. Skip some dosages here and… there, you'll be fine. I cannot accommodate you earlier because of the vaca- I mean holiday hours." I'm currently researching someone else to see so I don't have to stagger my missed dosages of meds that would put me in a dangerous situation. DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN!!!

As a 20 year old that deals with suicide ideation, depression, and anxiety, both my appointments with Varsha Mehta have been nothing but terrible. She is rude, condescending, and extremely and utterly dismissive. Very happy for the very few people who have had good experiences with her, however I feel so bad about myself I can't even explain. She made disrespectful comments about my sexual activity. When I kindly told her that I was offended, the only thing she replied with was that she "acknowledged what I said". Not only that, but when I told her I was having bad side effects to the medication she prescribed me, she completely dismissed me and told me to go see a new psychiatrist. I have not received an apology at all for the way she treated me. I feel defeated and worse than before. This lady has left me traumatized and afraid to seek mental help from anyone again, in fear that they will treat me the way she did.

I'VE BEEN SEEING DR MEHTA FOR OVER 10 YRS. SHE IS PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. SHE HAS SEEN ME IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AND IS ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL. SHE IS VERY STERN ABOUT NOT GIVING MEDICATIONS IF THEY ARE NOT NEEDED. I WILL CONTINUE TO SEE HER AS LONG AS HER PRACTICE IS OPEN.

How she has a license is beyond my ability to process

This doctor is on staff at Healthsouth and we had the unfortuante experience of her being assigned to us. This doctor is absolutely appalling and unprofessional. Extremely rude and dismissive. I was shocked that out of all medical specialties someone with this behavior could possibly be in the psychiatrist field. Disqusting and rude.

Rude, high and mighty, double billed me for going over the minutes without forewarning me when we were not even discussing anything psychiatric! We were talking about Indian cookies! Had I known I’d be extorted out of my hard-earned dollars over discussing her culture, I would have high-tailed it out of there. She is cheap—I was in her office at a visit when it was very cold out. I asked the receptionist to please put the heat on. The doctor got very upset and shut it! I’m completely done with her. I do not have major psychological issues. I needed her solely for medication refills. But for those of you with sensitive issues that need tender loving care and understanding from a doctor, this one is NOT for you.

I WAS TOLD TO HURRY BACK TO HER OFFICE EVENTHOUGH I NEEDED TO USE THE RESTROOM. SHE TOOK MY INTAKE, NEVER EVEN LOOKING AT ME JUST GOING THROUGH THE QUESTIONS ON MY PAPERWORK. SHE WAS COLD AND UNFRIENDLY, WHICH ONLY DID MORE HARM THEN GOOD TO ME DEALING WITH DEPRESSION. I IMMEDIATELY FOUND ANOTHER DOCTOR AND CANCELLED MY 2ND APPT. I BELIEVE ALL OF THESE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE BEING DONE BY HER OR HER INSIDE STAFF ETC. SHE IS HORRIBLE SO MUCH SO THAT I WANTED TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT MY APPOINTMENT WITH HER.

HORRIBLE!

Dr. Mehta treats you like she would treat her own family member. She is caring, honest and makes sure you are properly diagnosed and treated. She wants to see you get BETTER.
