Dr. Vatsala Bhaskaran, MD

I'm having major problems with anxiety right now and had withdraws from recent medication that was proscribed from a different psychiatrist called Paxil CR. Dr. Vatsala Bhaskaran said she was going to help me make things right and help me get back on track. Well after trying a few medications that wasn't working well with me, she tried a different one and now I'm having other symptoms. She gotten frustrated with me and complain that something is always wrong with the medicine I take and no one else's complains. She said she can't help me and I should go back to my old Doctor. She cancelled my appointments and left me to dry. Thanks for the help and being professional. Unbelievable!!

I left her office 100 times more distraught than when I went in. The appointment began with her standing at the front desk refusing to see me until they had my husbands credit card number and payment. (This was after reserving the appointment with a $50 deposit) It proceeded with her constantly interrupting me and her cellphone ringing repeatedly throughout the session, which she never silenced. She told me to ignore her phone because she always received lots of random calls. She offered no advice or counsel and was very cold and impersonal. The visit ended with me trying to schedule an appointment with a different counselor in the practice and one of the office staff saying "when she gives me the funds, she can have an appointment." So the lesson I left with was that the only thing this practice cares about is money.

Dr. Bhaskaran is very rude and does not listen. Her office manager is extremely rude as well. Avoid if you can.

I've gone to Dr. B for several years and never had an issue. She worked with me to find the right mix of medications that worked for me, and was very patient with my mood swings. She can be direct and she's not interested in being your friend, but I have confidence in her.

Horrible Doctor. Avoid at all costs, doesn't actually listen to you.

Well, where can I start. When I got there the lady behind the desk didn't even notice I was standing right in front of her for a good 5 Min. I filled out the paperwork and waited quite a while to see the doctor. During the appointment I checked my watch once and she rudely said "we don't allow that here" . I asked her what she was talking about and she said "I noticed that's an apple watch, you're probably checking your email. We don't allow that here. I know you saw the sign" Super confused I asked her what sign she was talking about and she dismissed the question. She also dismissed one of my concerns and now one of my illnesses is going unresolved. I will be going to a different doctor from now on.

I could not disagree more about my brief ezperience with Dr. Bhaskaran, except for the part about being given time to talk. However, I do not believe she listened at all, but merely interrepreted what she wanted to hear. Granted, I was in pretty bad shape, but I had been very physically ill for almost year. When I tried to explain some of physical illnesses and what meds would be problematic, she told me that was between me and my other specialist(s). I asked her to on my forms to coordinate with the main Dr. treating me and that was never done. Don't expect the office or Dr. to answer the phones, return calls for appointments, or return urgent messages. I was put on a medication I told her I had not responded well to before. On top of that, she forbid me to take ambien, when part the illness I had been fighting was major sleep disturbances, told me I had to stop another important night med because it was a stimulant, which turned out to be categorically untrue and also… did not have good consequences, and the worst, possibly most dangerous prescribing decision was to take me off an immediately acting, every 3 hours dose of anxiety medication to switch me to another oral one at night at less than half the dose. I didn't even mind that until not feeling well and read that you should never stop that medication cold turkey and when replacing one for the other, they must be phased in/phased out in equal doses to make the transition. I also had to call the Dr. on call about the terrible side effects and told her about not taking ambien either. She, apparently much more understanding, asked why Dr. B would tell me not to take it in current situation? I didn't know at that point and she told me to start taking it again. When I went back to Dr. B for my follow up, doing much better, and told her I was taking it, she just said she wouldn't treat me taking that with anxiety med, saying it was too much of a certain category of drugs, which I also found out to be not true. There's more, so much more and I only saw her for two weeks, but she left my high and dry on refills, not giving me enough to stay on her plan of increasing the meds she told me to and my repeated messages that I was short, without right dose were ignored. When I did finally speak with her, I was told there was nothing she would do about it. I wasn't a patient there anymore, but they did refer me to their Pearland office, which I am absolutely not going to. One last thing that greatly disturbed me about this Dr. is that I, too opened up to her about some recent, upsetting tragic losses and that I had not had or seen my therapist's for three months because my insurance no longer covered her. I thought for sure she would recommend the counseling services in the office, but she didn't even recommend I get any there or anywhere else. Bad Doctor who only believes in 5 drugs with no regard for patient whatsoever. Still trying to get the bad taste out of my mouth. If I could give her no stars, I would.

I felt at ease with Dr. Bhaskaran. She let me talk for a good amount of time about all the issues I've been dealing with, and my concerns. She provided feedback and suggestions as needed and really seemed to listen to what I was telling her; she genuinely seemed to care and took the requisite notes. At the end of our session she requested that I speak with a psychologist regularly, so I made an appointment with one in the same office. It's hard to find a doctor that you feel comfortable enough to share such personal details about your life, and I believe Dr. B. helped quite a bit.
