Dr. Vaughn Wesley Folkert, MD

My name is Nicole Perry-Headen and an old patient of Dr. Folkert's. I believe I started seeing him as my nephrologist in 1993. I was suffering from Lupus that had attacked my kidneys and Dr. Folkert was determined to try to keep them functioning as long as possible. Well, he did. I think about 5 years before I went into complete renal failure. One day out of the blue he just asked my mother if she wanted to donate a kidney. At that time they weren't doing transplants like they do today so we were confused, but my mother said yes and I had a successful surgery. My mother did well too, no medical issues even until today and she's 72. God bless Dr. Folkert all his days! He helped save my life! A wonderful, endearing, incredibly gifted person. He put me on the path I'm on today. Functioning normal. He was like a father figure the why he cared for me. If you need an intelligent, patient, loving nephrologist, he is the doctor to try to get an appointment with. I love and miss… him.
