Dr. Venitress Renea Carrington

Dr. Carrington is a wonderful dentist. Her office is clean, and her staff made me feel comfortable. I did not have an appointment but I woke up with an extremely bad toothache.She fit me into her schedule. She took care of my pain, and removed a broken tooth and discussed a treatment plan. This was a painless visit after the numbing. I intend to follow-up with her.

I usually don't post reviews, but I was compelled to post this one. WARNING: It's a bit long. After searching for a new dentist in my area, I came upon Smile Creations. I was very impressed with the reviews and made an appointment. When I arrived there were two patients complaining that they had been waiting over an hour to be seen. Alarm bells went off right away. Approximately 30 minutes later, a disgruntled patient walked in demanding to speak to the office manager regarding a claim that was filed 2 years ago and still had not been paid due to the staff's incompetency in submitting the right paperwork. Looking back now, that should have been my cue to cancel my appointment and find another dentist office. After waiting over an hour myself without an explanation, I was eventually called to complete check-in, given a brief apology for the wait and taken to the back to see the hygienist. The hygienist was very thorough. She reviewed my chart with me and proceeded to take x-rays. When… it was time for the doctor to examine me, the hygienist informed me that the doctor was busy and that she would do the cleaning first and the doctor would examine me afterwards. All went well with the cleaning. The doctor came in, briefly viewed my x-rays, then made an inaccurate assessment. When I corrected her, she acknowledged that she had made a mistake due to rushing. She never examined me and was literally in the room for 5 minutes. As I began to leave, the front office staff came into the exam room and explained that they actually performed a procedure I did not authorize nor would insurance pay and my balance for the visit was over $200. When I explained that I was not prepared to pay, especially since I was only there for a routine cleaning which is covered 100% by my dental plan, she stated that I would have to discuss it with the doctor. When I spoke to the doctor, she admitted that they were "off their game" that day---her words not mine, and that unfortunately, the staff made a mistake and I should have been examined first, then informed about the need for the procedure. She went on to say that the procedure was something that I really needed done and if I did not elect to have it, I probably would have not gotten anything done to my teeth that day. Therefore as a courtesy, she would give me a discount since it was the staff's fault. She proceeded to reiterate several times that she doesn't usually do this (give a discount), as if she was doing me a favor. So, instead of paying over $200 for a visit that should have had no out-of-pocket cost, I was FORCED to pay over $100. I'll never know if the practice was really "off their game" that day, but this is one patient that won't ever be going back to find out. P.S. the one star is for the dental hygienist and friendliness of the staff.

Three months after having caps and other dental work done in Dr Carrington office The caps came off the teeth. She wanted me to be responsible for replacing them. (THANK GOD FOR AFFORDABLE DENTURES) BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
