Dr. Vera Bicak Odak, DO

My 90 year old mother, with Alzheimer’s, was transported from assisted living to the hospital with breathing problems after having sustained fractured ribs. After ER treatment she was put into a hospital room. Dr. Bicak called me and was very rude wanting to know why she was in the hospital when she was breathing fine on room air. She also asked why she was taken to Akron General when she has Summa insurance. I explained the ambulance took her, it wasn’t my decision. Her professionalism is questionable.

I met Dr. Bicak while a patient in hospital. I had just lost my doctor of 32 years. I liked her and thought I'd make here my PCP. She has been my doctor for about 1.5 years. She was ok at first but then she became all about the fact that I am overweight and she lost interest in treating me. During our last visit every time I tried to say anything she told me in some form about how fat I am. I had been not feeling well and was having trouble having any appetite and her reply to me was "Well, you're eating something, have you seen how much you weigh?" At that point she was fired. I got up and promptly left her office. She entered into my record that she dismissed me from her practice. She also said she was trying to discuss my diet with me and I was not cooperative and didn't seem to care. That was funny because she wouldn't let me say a word. Guess she couldn't figure out she was actually fired and I had no intention of being further abused by her. I am sure if you are… healthy and slim she would suit you fine but if you have a health problem or are overweight she is not the doctor to see. God forbid if you have both problems.

Met Dr. Bicak when she was the doctor assigned to me when I was in the hospital. She was excellent and my husband & I liked her immediately. She is attentive and thorough.
