Dr. Vernon Carroll at the VA ER dismissed my injuries and treated me poorly, leading me to believe it was due to my race. I felt unheard and disrespected throughout my visit.

Still paying. Has cost me thousands in medical bills.

Before even coming into the room, he was already fixated on telling me to go see a dermatologist for the rash. I was trying to explain to him what was wrong that had absolutely nothing to do with my rash. I was telling him that my fingers and toes are always numb and tingling and that’s not normal. He told me that I’m not dying and not having a stroke and to go see a dermatologist. A dermatologist can’t tell me what’s going on with my limbs and why they are doing such. He made me feel like the pain I was going through didn’t matter. He made me feel like I didn’t matter because he was very condescending. He already had it in his mind that he didn’t want to help me by not even listening to what I was saying. My issue has been going on for a couple days and that is an emergency.
