Dr. Veronica Chanso Shim, MD

Breast cancer brought me to Dr. Veronica Shim. She was absolutely the best. She is smart, skilled, compassionate and caring. She’d call on weekends to check in or give some feedback. She was comforting but did not sugar-coat reality. After my successful breast surgery, she said she’d follow up with me in a year. While thrilled I survived surgery in good condition, I felt sad I wouldn’t be seeing her regularly anymore, although she promised she’d be following up on me every year to monitor my health.

A mastectomy is a brutal surgery. Dr. Shim is not only skilled, she is honest, dedicated and completely present for her patients. Unlike other surgeons who wanted their patients put under before being brought into the operating room, Dr. Shim held my hand as i was put under general anesthesia. She listened. She gets how hard breast cancer is and i have never experienced a doctor who i could trust so completely. Thank you.

I received excellent care from Dr. Shim. She was kind, empathetic and did an excellent job on my surgery. The results were good and with very little cosmetic impact. Her surgery team were excellent. I am very grateful for her commitment to her practice.

Dr. Veronica Shim performed a bilateral mastectomy on me. She was skilled and compassionate and her actions renewed my hope. She is a skilled and dedicated surgeon who is available to her patients and willing to spend the time and energy to empower them to be partners in their medical care.In the course of my treatment for breast cancer, I met many of her other breast cancer patients.
