Dr. Victor Anthony Prieto, MD

Dr. Victor Prieto caused me to undergo a painful second operation soon after my double-knee replacement because he refused to give me a machine after my knee replacement that would help me move my leg while lying in bed, a machine that would prevent scar tissue from building up too rapidly after surgery. I had to have a second, painful operation just to break up the scar tissue on my right then and there -- and then he gave me the machine to help me move my leg to precent scar tissue build-up. He never acknowledged to me in the ten years I knew him that he had installed one of my knee replacements at an angle instead of horizontally as it needed to be, and 13 years after my operation, the knee replacement inevitably and predictably broke, threatening to break my leg. To add insult to injury, Dr. Prieto abandoned me four days before my emergency surgery, claiming (falsely) I had called him a liar for questioning him and his claims to the charge nurse. I had a leg that was going to… break soon if i did not have a revision to the knee replacement that he faultily had installed and he had no concern for me or the trauma he was causing me by abandoning me -- while providing no reference to any other surgeon who might help me. I understood through an x-ray technician six months later that Dr. Prieto might have had personal problems at the time that set him off, but his behavior towards me was negligent, abusive, and entirely irresponsible. Although I never called him a liar and didn't suspect him of being a liar, I now know he is a liar and a deliberate one.

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT DR PRIETO.I COULD SAY HE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON, I COULD SAY HE IS AGREAT MAN. I COULD EVEN SAY HES A VERY KIND HEARTED, SOFT SPOKED SOUL, WITH A GENTLENESS ABOUT THE WAY HE GIVE TREATMENT ANS CARE TO HSI PATIENTS. HOW I KNOW THIS? I WAS JUST RECENTLY HSI PATIENT. SEE HE SAVE MY LIFE AND FIXED MY BROKE LEFT HIP. I HAVE NO PAIN AND I CAN RUN AGAIN. BUT DR PRIETO IS MORE THAT ALL THE ABOVE . Late due to emergency surgery but no big deal. Knew what he was doing, and the fix worked even better than anticipated. And a nice guy.

I was walking my dog on Market Strreet near Fox Plaza in late 2009. I slipped and as I grabbed a nearby tree to break my fall, my right distal bicep tendon tore almost 90% from the bone. I didn't know this at the time because there was no swelling or outward indication but I soon found myself in a world of pain. An MRI revealed the damage. If I didn't have ortho surgery soon, the tendon would retract requiring a much more complicated and uncertain repair. I chose St. Francis Hospital's Center for Sports Medicine. Dr. Prieto fitted me into his busy surgical schedule and performed my operation on SUNDAY! I was under general anesthesia for about an hour as he skillfully installed metal anchors and repaired my tendon. I walked out of the hospital that same day. Special thanks to anesthesiologist Dr. Nils Ahlberg and the fine nursing staff. Dr. Prieto is approachable, personable, and he knows his business.
