Dr. Victor Franz Zurita, MD

I came to his practice because I had heard great things about him. I am not sure if his bedside manner has changed in recent years, but I did not have a great experience with him. I sought his care because I was having bleeding. He recommended a colonoscopy and I agreed because I thought that he was going to investigate the cause not just because I had a family history of colon cancer. When I woke up, he informed me that he did not see anything wrong outside of hemorrhoids. He also informed me that he did not do a biopsy because my colon looked normal. The entire purpose of me doing the colonoscopy was the find out the source of the bleeding and why I was anemic! I asked if hemorrhoids and IBS were able to cause a person to become anemic. The response that I received back from Dr. Zurita was rude! He said and I quote: "IBS does not cause blood loss, so not the cause". Additionally, I had also asked what grade the hemorrhoids were and what I received was him attempting to schedule an… appointment for banding and him, once again responding in a rude manner about the procedure. He never told me what grade the hemorrhoids were. Regarding my anemia, he tried to blame my menstrual cycle! This was AFTER I informed him that my menstrual cycle was light and had been ruled out by my gynecologist and hematologist as the source of the anemia. My hematologist tried to get him to perform an endoscopy as my iron levels were continuing to drop even while being on iron supplements. When I received a call from the staff at his office to set up an endoscopy appointment, the staff member said: "I do not know why you need an endoscopy. Your results on the colonoscopy did not show anything." Well.. how exactly can it show anything if he did not do a biopsy? The same staff person also lied about me not meeting my deductible last year and that I would have to pay out of pocket for the endoscopy. My decision was made to seek care elsewhere. If you are considering him to find out the cause of your anemia please go somewhere else where they actually care!

The best gastroenterologist doctor I have ever met. The only regret I have is not finding him sooner. He is kind, understanding, extremely knowledgable, patient, trustworthy, professional and through. I have only seen him once and I already feel better. Thank you Dr. Zurita for being so responsive and willing to help me find solutions to my issues. Thank you for also following up with me on how I am doing. I am blessed to have found you. I highly recommend Dr. Zurita to anyone who wants an excellent and skilled Doctor!

Dr. Zurita is hands down the best doctor I have had in any capacity. He is exceptionally intelligent, patient, kind, and comforting. His staff is just as wonderful as he is. Never have I felt so heard and genuinely cared for by a doctor.

Dr. Zurita and his staff were amazing! I was terrified of having a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I had several unsuccessful attempts to get one here in Laredo. He was recommended to me by my brother and I am so thankful for his advice! Procedure was quick and results were given quickly. They called me from his office the day after the procedures to see how I was doing. I was so happy and blessed by them. Everything was organized and atmosphere was friendly and positive! I have been a patient of Dr. ZURITA for over 13 years and have a complexity of rare medical issues, such as a dysfunctional autonomic nervous system. He has always listened to my complaints and pinpointed what tests were best. The tests have always validated my symptoms & indicated what the problem is. Dr. Zurita strives to get the diagnoses right & treat it effectively. He explains well, using diagrams & metaphors so you can understand your diagnosis & how to manage it. Dr. Zurita thinks outside the box, is well versed in his field & in other conditions that affect the gut, runs tests that other doctors are not familiar with & competant in treating uncommon medical problems, other doctors dont want to treat. Even though he cant cure my chronic condition, he has helped me manage my symptoms, reduce discomforts, and avoid potential medical emergencies!! I trust his judgement & medical advice! He is the best!!

Dr. Zurita and his staff are amazing. Don't mind driving 200 miles for my appointments. He answers any questions I may have through the portal in a timely manner. The level of care I receive from him and his staff are Top Notch.

Dr. Zurita makes himself readily available to you whenever you are having a GI issue, no matter how big or small. He has a very personal approach to solving problems and is very open to collaborating with you about possible treatment options based on the results of the evaluation. Many GI doctors quickly diagnose IBS and subsequently treat this condition with medicine whereas Dr. Zurita takes the time to look for underlying causes that patients are experiencing. Highly recommend!

Dr. Z always ALWAYS takes his time in explaining my condition and treatment. He writes down pertinent information so that I can take home an outline of what he's talked about. Taking that much time is rare and I always feel confident that there is a plan for my condition when I leave his office.
