Dr. Vijay Subramaniam, MD

Spouse developed what was originally thought to be residual post pneumonia following closed sternum fracture. Following first and second hospital stay contacted Dr. Vijay. Prescribed CPAP and set up appointments following sleep study and CPAP monitoring data. Spouse was again hospitalized and pulmonologist Dr. Kennedy treated her in hospital and prescribed immediate breathing and blood tests. Actual problem is serious interstitial lung disease with possible fatal complications if not properly treated and requiring thoracic surgical tissue biopsy. We found Dr. Vijay to be somewhat arrogant, hesitant to answer questions and not friendly patient attitude.

Very bad experience with this 'doctor'. I was referred to him regarding a possible lung condition. He ordered a CT scan and a bronchoscopy. After viewing the results of each procedure, he stated he did not know what he was dealing with and wanted to send me to a thoracic surgeon for a lung biopsy. He listed 3 different places to go, all a distance away and one out of state. I stated I was sure there are thoracic surgeons in the area, so no, I would not go out of the area. He then gave me 3 options for possible treatment. He said he did not like the options I chose after he told me to make a chose! He then yelled at me and stated that I did not want to do anything he suggested. Really? He suggested 3 options and then stated he didn't like any of them, but I was the one who was being disagreeable?? Upon leaving his office, he told me I should bring a family member with me to these visits, suggesting that I did not understand what he was telling me. I would never recommend this… man to anyone. After viewing his website, I see that he does not have good reviews. That should tell everyone something.

I went to my appointment today to be told by a woman in neurology that he was closed today. Nobody contacted me by phone or email. I am very upset by this very unprofessional.

I came with shortness of breath. Before seeing me, he wanted the assistant to have me do a 6 minute walk test. Their device seemed like a funky pulse oximeter you'd buy on eBay. The assistant barely paid any attention to me and my worsening shortness of breath during the walk test. She would look at the monitor occasionally. By the time I finished I was in a complete flop sweat and too out of breath to talk to the doctor, so he talked to a relative who was with me and ignored me. He insinuated that my problems were mental in nature and that he had no reason to see me. Unfortunately my referring primary care doctor had not written any of my indications for being there and so I was left on my own, breathless, to try to explain why I needed help. He wouldn't really let me talk when I tried to. He was aggressive and boasted that he was not only a pulmonologist but a critical care specialist as if that was relevant to our conversation. I found him to be a very intimidating figure and did… not feel safe. I later read how a 6 minute walk test should be conducted and they did not follow any of the normal protocols.

He “terminated our relationship due to non- compliance “ for no other reason than I cancelled my last appointment. I was IN THE HOSPITAL with pneumonia. I was never advised of the “rules” of being his patient.

Dr Vijay was not a good match for me. He has all the answers even before he hears the question. Once he learned that I was going to a research hospital for tests instead of his preferred hospital, he informed me that he didn't see the benefit of seeing me any longer! Bad patient manner. Changed Pulmonologists.

1.30 he's late. Turned up in wrinkled dirty scrubs. Listened to nothing. Bad choice

He didn't give up on me,excellent bedside manner, would make him my family doctor if I could.

Dr. Vijay is the best doctor ever. More doctors should learn from him on how to treat patients. He is easy to talk to and is great at explaining things to you. He takes the time with his patients. Great GUY!!!
