Dr. Vijaya L Jujjavarapu, MD

I am posting this to warn future patients about my experience with Dr. Jujjavarapu, and I do not recommend her. My concerns are not simply about a medication disagreement. They are about her judgment, communication, bedside manner, failure to listen, and the way she handled a medically complex patient with longstanding CRPS and POTS. We repeatedly explained the patient’s history, treatment, medications, severe current flare and functional limitations. We even provided written CRPS and POTS care instructions to the office, and her nurse confirmed they were reviewed and forwarded to Dr. J. Despite that, I repeatedly found myself explaining established medications and aspects of the patient’s condition. I did not feel listened to, and I did not feel the information we provided was being adequately incorporated into her care. We were actively trying to establish with a new adult pain specialist. In fact, the patient’s previous pain specialist told us they did not have what she needed and… were allowing her to transition out so she could find a specialist who could specifically manage the weaning she would eventually need. We also told Dr. J that we were no longer comfortable with her managing the patient, that we were finding another doctor, and that we intended to file a formal grievance. After that, we were told in writing that continued treatment would be conditional upon establishing with a pain specialist AND agreeing to begin a weaning schedule. By the time this was clearly communicated, the existing medication was approximately two days from running out. We were left feeling forced to agree to a taper we were not comfortable starting because the alternative was potentially having a long-term opioid medication abruptly interrupted before another physician had assumed responsibility. That is serious. The FDA warns about serious withdrawal and uncontrolled pain with rapid opioid reduction or abrupt discontinuation, and the CDC warns that rapid tapering or sudden discontinuation can increase opioid-related emergency department visits and hospitalization. The patient was already in a severe CRPS flare and also has POTS. Withdrawal can involve tachycardia, dizziness, sweating, vomiting, diarrhea and reduced fluid intake, creating additional concerns with an existing autonomic disorder. Pharmacy availability was another concern because this medication is not always available in the required quantity. There was also conflicting direction within the same practice regarding another pain medication. One physician previously documented that he was not comfortable prescribing it while the patient was taking the established opioid treatment and believed pain management should handle it. Later, Dr. J proposed it as part of the transition. Another major concern is that Dr. J is only in the office three days out of a five-day workweek. For a patient facing a complicated medication transition with potential withdrawal, severe pain and POTS-related concerns, This office doesn't the appropriate continuity and availability to safely manage that kind of complex wean without a specialist taking over. What bothered me most was HOW this doctor handled the patient.She made me uncomfortable and came across as having an “I’m the doctor, I know better than you” attitude. A doctor does not have to agree with a patient or caregiver, but they should listen, understand the history, take concerns seriously and make decisions based on the patient in front of them.We were already trying to leave her care and establish with someone more appropriate, and instead we found ourselves facing an immediate and frightening medication situation with almost no time to respond. I am posting this because future patients deserve to know what our experience was. I absolutely do not recommend Dr. Jujjavarapu, particularly for anyone with a medically complex condition where listening, communication, continuity and careful treatment planning are essential.No emergency plan was

This lady is a complete quack . Does not listen , laughs at you , is very impatient . Does not understand American medical terms . She cannot distinguish between a sprain and a bruise . How is she even allowed to practice? 2 hour wait time that is well documented by online reviews . I WOULD NEVER TRUST HER IN A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION !! Yes my visit was that bad. She cannot read English clearly . Tries to perform unecessary test. Talks to you in a rude manner . She never smiles and smells badly .
