Dr. Patel is an interventional heart doctor in Kankakee who focuses on minimally invasive heart care and coordinated treatment for complex cardiac conditions. He helps patients understand their options so they can take an active role in their heart care.I pursued medicine after seeing family members encourage me toward the field. During training, mentors helped me see how interventional cardiology offers patients many treatment options for heart and blood vessel conditions. My approach is to make care a shared effort; we like to work together as a team. I want patients to understand the treatment being offered, the choices available and the plan we make together. I also encourage questions, because clear communication can make a complex heart problem feel less overwhelming. I earned my medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completed an internship and residency at the University of Illinois, and completed fellowship training at the University of Illinois at Chicago. …My work focuses on interventional cardiology, including heart procedures, cardiac evaluation and coordinated care with cardiology, electrophysiology and cardiovascular surgery teams when more specialized treatment is needed.
