Dr Key is a outstanding orthopedic I had a right rotator cuff surgery done June 10 2013.. and I would choose him again if I ever need it a orthopedic overall he's a great person he cares about his patients unlike some doctors he doesn't discriminate and he's very professional ??

Not sure where to start. Key worked on me and I’m no better, maybe worse than when I originally saw him. The elbow got infected. The carpel tunnel is no better, proven by a second post operative nerve conduction study by the same physician that did the first nerve study. Pain has not improved, numbness is more prevalent than pre-operative levels. I prevented with an infection was tunneling in nature. When this was presented to him he was hesitant to do anything to remedy it. The tunneling was 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch deep. The KU outpatient surgery center was similar to my surgery experience. Very disappointing. Key told me the procedure would be 15 minutes for the elbow and maybe 10 for the carpel tunnel. Not so. Anesthesia was also a poor experience. Not sure what they gave me but I was up and around but literally cannot remember 2 days after I went home (same day procedure- in and out). Post op my wife received no post op stretching orders or PT of any kind whatsoever.… When I returned for my first visit a few days post op, I presented the elbow infection to him. On my second return visit (scheduled post op for suture removal) I was asked how my stretching exercises were going. I told him I had never been told to do any stretching and never received any post op instructions to do so. I am very underwhelmed by the care, attention to details and overall concern for my wellbeing. Very disappointing experience.

I had been suffering knee pain for five weeks and scheduled an appointment with KU Orthopedics' Dr. Toby. Because of the pandemic shut-down, my MRI was scheduled for two weeks later and I was advised to call in the afternoons to see if there'd been a cancellation. Luckily, there was an opening and my MRI was made on Thursday, a week after my first appointment. The MRI results came on Monday and indicated I'd torn my lateral meniscus. I was referred to Dr.Key and he saw me the next day and discussed options. Although I'm 69 years old, I'm very active and want to continue to be active, so Dr. Key scheduled surgery for Thursday of that week. This was by far the easiest and least painful surgery I've every undergone. Three neat little incisions around my knee, NO bruising or bleeding, and from the moment I woke up my pain has been significantly less than before surgery. Physical Therapy begins tomorrow morning (the 5th day after surgery) and I feel very optimistic that I'll heal up much… better than before. I think Dr. Key is a brilliant surgeon - way beyond competent - he and his staff all friendly and compassionate. Great experience! Highest recommendation!

I can no longer walk because Dr. Key kept putting off my surgery having me jump through hoops. Did everything he asked but didn't matter. I still don't understand why but I have given up hope of ever getting any help so now I have no other options.

I've needed a total knee replacement for two years and still no date for surgery. Just getting the run around, so I'm going to a different ortho surgeon. I guess if you don't play for the Royals you're not important enough for him, as he does all the Royals baseball team member. My advice go to someone else who cares and listens because he doesn't.

I had three visits each with his nurse. He never entered the room and I left just like I came with pain. Maybe because I am overweight there was no need to address the issue. Until I looked on my computer I couldn't have told you what he look like.

I had been going to a doctor for a year and a half concerning my knee and was getting nowhere and I'd had enough, so I made an appointment with Dr, Key. The first time I met with him, he looked at my x-rays, came back and told me what was wrong and what he could do to fix it, so he scheduled surgery, performed the surgery and I went back for a post-op check and I was fixed. Three times I saw him, and I was fixed. I was a happy camper and I was so amazed that I had only seen him 3 times and I was fixed, still am. I will go to no one else. My knee is still fine, and he has the best bed side manner you could ever hope to have in a doctor.

I've had 2 surgeries by Dr. Key now, he is outstanding! I would recommend him to anyone looking for an ortherpedic surgeon

Dr. Key was great at my first appointment, walked me though my knee issues and what he thought the next best steps would be. I have an extension medical history unfortunately experience with multiple surgeons. Dr. Key was at my first Post Op appointment. He however was not at the following two Post Op appointments, I felt like an afterthought. My knee has not healed properly and I am now seeking a second opinion, it would have been nice to be able to discuss my concerns with my surgeon.

Dr Key is fantastic. I highly recommend him for your Knee Surgery. He is a true artist.
