Dr. Vincent N Laporta, DDS

I've had several visits with Dr. Laporta, some of which were unscheduled but his staff fit me in. During every visit he has been thorough, attentive, asks lots of questions, does a complete diagnostic, and takes the time to sit across from me and discuss 1) diagnosis, 2) possible treatment plans, and 3) immediate steps. I particularly appreciate that he is conservative and discusses options. I have never been rushed, despite my last-minute calls. He is personable, professional, and informative. His staff is a pleasure to work with as well, and so helpful. The office is clean and uncrowded, easy to find and plenty of parking. No one wants to be in that chair, but if you get into trouble - I'd recommend Dr. Laporta. Outstanding.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to barely meet the most haughty, arrogant, condescending “doctor “ EVER in my lifetime. He came into the examination room at UConn, introduced himself from behind me, nary setting a foot near my face so I could actually meet him, but thought that wearing a mask and his oh so professional little teeth goggles and, saying his name from behind me, was enough of an introduction. At that point, I made a little joke about my x-rays and he said, “oh that was really funny“, so facetiously and so condescendingly before dipping his hands into my mouth. He is the most exemplary example of an individual who could give a hoot about the patient and who has taken the word “care” out of healthcare. As a patient, I wish I could’ve said what was really on my mind which probably would’ve knocked him off his feet. For any doctor, regardless of their profession or specialty, to behave in such a manner is not only inhumane but is also completely unethical. I would never… recommend this “character“ to anyone who wanted a good periodontist. RUN.

I met with Dr Laporta, who is very personable, about getting 2 dental implants. It took a year, with 2 bone grafts and a ton of money and pain. After just 8 months, one of the grafts failed. He removed it a week later, and used gas and ativan for medication. I had paid for IV sedation, which I read is used by every periodontist. The next 7 days, were horrible. My eyes ached and I was very light sensitive. They make me feel like I am a big baby over dental surgery. I think I am just like anyone else. We all hate needles in our gums and the roof of your mouth. Implants are not for everyone, so ask questions, and attend a seminar if there is one. I think the Glastonbury office is better. The staff is more professional, caring and understanding. I will leave it at that~
