Wonderful doctor and very good with knee and shoulder issues I recommend him to anyone

Mixed reviews: Dr. Santoro replaced both my knees last year. Before he resorted to the surgery, every other measure was taken, from physical therapy, steroid injections and joint lubricant injections. In the end I needed the surgeries. Today, my left knee implant is failing and I need revision surgery, however I was fully informed that there was no guarantee the replacement would hold so I don't feel that was his fault. He was mostly kind, respectful and put me at ease during my appointments as well as pre op and post op care; however when I had to call him in blinding pain on the weekend after my surgery twice, he was arrogant and rude, minimizing my need to call him and saying "maybe it hurts because I just did major surgery on you" in an impatient manner as if "how dare you bother me on a weekend". He advised me to just increase my pain medication which helped, but again, he was exceedingly rude. So, in a nutshell he was great aside from those two phone calls on weekends. I have… selected another surgeon for my revision surgery for this reason. PS His staff is AMAZING, especially Alvin Abueg, his PA. I will write a stellar review for him.

I did not like his nurse

I had shoulder surgery recently. He rushed through every single appointment. And seems like he tries to spend as little time with you as possible. My surgery went great, but I still wonder if it was really necessary. Made me feel stupid for asking questions, or asking about how necessary surgery was. I think he just looks at his patients as a $ sign and thinks "will this get approved by insurance or not" - instead of "is this what is best for my patient?" - While I am pleased with the actual surgery - I can't help but feel like the entire process was rushed. Every single interaction rushed. I am happy that my surgery more or less turned out good, but I could not confidently refer anyone else to him. I REALLY wish I would have gotten a second opinion. I'm thankful that I have excellent post care physical therapy from someone else. If Dr. Santoro is reading this - SLOW DOWN - act like you care about your patients. Don't make them feel stupid when they ask questions and don't act like you… ALWAYS have somewhere more important to be.

I trust Dr. Santoro with my life. He has done multiple surgeries on me. Not only is he an excellent surgeon, he always makes me laugh.

I went in inquiring about my knee but Dr. Santaro didn't give me any useful information about my knee at all and I felt like the appointment was rushed. Then I received an extremely high bill just for those few minutes I spent with him. How insane and stupid it is to have been charged nearly $400 just for going in to talk with him for a few minutes!! And to not have received any useful information!!

Dr Santoro was recommended by a friend who had shoulder surgery by him. I've had 4 previous surgeries, all failed causing more damage. Dr Santoro wasn't impressed with the work of the previous surgeon. He went in and fixed the mistakes of previous surgeons. I've never felt better. Thanks doc.
