Dr. Vincent Joseph Silvaggio, MD

Made me wait a whole month in pain then get to his appointment sat in pain for an hour to tell me in five minutes that I need a shot that now I have to wait god knows when they will call me to make appointment for me to come back and waste more time and money and then wait more time to just get relief this is straight bull and no wonder why people don't want to pay for health insurance appointments after appointments and no help in between I'm so mad

I suffered for years with a bulging disc insurance would not cover surgery. Disc herniated and I was taken to hospital unable to walk, where Dr Silvaggio did a fusion on L4 & L5. They went in from the front at my belt line removing internal organs and fused with cadaver bone this was 34 years ago and it was state of the art surgery at that time. I am 70 now and play golf weekly enjoying life thanks to Dr Silvaggio. He is a great surgeon and I would trust him with my life and I did !!

Dr Silvaggio cancelled two appts with me .He gave me about 5 minutes after my MRI No pictures or photos to explain my issues He said I have many problems happening back there and left. When I asked to nurse to have him come back he sent the PA I will never have him treat me again

I word not be walking if it were not for Dr. Silvaggio. I have had 2 lumbar fusions, recovery was so easy. He listens and is so compassionate.

I had 4-5 minutes with the nurse, who didn't ask me about my history. I had 5-6 minutes with a woman I'm assuming was an intern, who asked my current problems, but never asked about history or how my current problem is affecting my everyday life. Dr. Silvaggio gave me maybe 6 minutes and also did not ask about how my current problem is affecting me. Asked very little about my history. Had three x-rays taken and was offered no help. Referred to PT after the doctor had more of a discussion about me (in front of me) with his intern and my husband. Waste of time. No empathy, didn't feel like I was heard or taken seriously.

Read his rate mds and all of his UPMC reviews. The few Vitals reviews here are are certainly not an overview of his qualifications or his bedside manner! He spends no quality time with you, he is dismissive and he has short man syndrome. Beware.

Amazing surgeon and staff. I always felt well cared for, from the front office folks to Dr.Silvaggio.

Dr Silvaggio didn't rush to surgery. Wanted to explore all options prior to agreeing to doing surgery. Once surgery was done Dr Silvaggio not only stopped in every morning post op to follow up with my care as well as to answer any and all questions I had, but also stopped in the early evening if a problem needed addressed. I've never had a doctor show care and compassion like Dr Silvaggio has. He is a great surgeon and more importantly a great human being. I am16 days post op from a 2 stage fusion of S1-L5 and L5-L4. My personal life has resumed to normal activity minus a few restrictions. On a daily basis I gain more strength and conditioning and find myself more and more limber thanks to Dr Silvaggio. I highly recommend Dr Silvaggio.

Takes time to explain what exactly is wrong, different options explained, then he gives you an honest opinion. Decision is yours to make without any pressure. He is an excellent doc and I would not trust anyone but him to take care of my complex issues. Plus he can pull off a bow tie like no one else. I recommend him to all my patients.

I think Dr Silvaggio is one of the best surgeons there is. He totally takes his time with you, explains everything and has a great "bedside" manner which is very important to me.He is a miracle worker as far as I'm concerned! I'm to have a different surgery and he will be the one doing it.
