Dr. Vincenzo Riccardo Sanguineti, MD

When I telephoned the Dr. for an appointment I had the distinct impression he did not want to see me, though I couldn't understand why. He agreed to a consultation and said he would decide afterward whether or not he would agree to engage in treatment with me. It was clear from the very beginning that he did not want to treat me: he discounted every issue and every heartbreak I'd ever endured. He couldn't have been less empathic if he tried. After about 15 minutes, I confronted him with this and his response was that he had very little time and had to be discerning about who he treated because his time was so limited. He also felt that my issues could be treated by anyone and didn't require a psychiatrist's expertise. I've had several psychiatrists treat me in the past, and none had ever expressed that to me, particularly since I have a neurological disorder as well as metabolic disorders and am on antidepressant medication. He told me a primary care physician could prescribe those… meds. I found it interesting that all the while he talked about his time being so valuable, he never seemed to consider that my time is also valuable. All he had to say to me on the phone was, "I'm not accepting any new patients at this time." But he did not, for one simple reason, he was and is in fact accepting new patients at this time. When one has an initial appointment with a clinician, one hopes for a sympathetic and empathic ear. What I had not expected was, 'counter empathy.' He ought to take his name off the front door and replace the words with Dr. Counter Empathy

Dr Sanguinetti is a compassionate, caring doctor he is so knowledable and soft spoken. He has helped me immensely with PTSD. I highly recommend him!
