Dr. Violeta Tammy Delamelena, MD

Not happy with Dr. DelaMelena. My mom was in surgery and we didn't find out she was out until I asked the information desk if they had heard anything. They informed me and my family that my mother had been in recovery for 2.5hrs. I asked as to why the surgeon hadn't come out and talked to us. They stated that that never happens and that the surgeon always comes out. Dr. DelaMelena was the head surgeon along with a Resident MD and a plastic surgeon. When it was brought to the surgeons attention the Resident was sent out to discuss what took place with us. Not very happy. My mom stayed the night in the hospital and the next morning for follow up the resident showed up and not Dr. Delamelena. My mother was disappointed, here she just had a double mastectomy and her Surgeon doesn't even have the common curtsey to see how she is feeling. I would not recommend this surgeon to anybody. Yes my mothers surgery went well, however during surgery they found 8 cancerous spots and this was not… brought to my moms attention until a week later at her follow up appointment. Working in the medical profession I understand emergencies happen and surgeon get pulled in all directions, however it that were the case that information could have been relayed to us- the family.

After the surgery was technically successful, but it did not resolve my symptoms, she did not care what happened to me. I think she was eager to take my case because I had a rare surgical condition that she could put on her resume.
