Dr. Vip Mangalick, MD

I wish I could give 0 stars. If you are a woman, prepare to be ignored, gas lighted, and spoken down to. He told me my depression would be cured by raising the thermostat in my home and then told me the only way to lose weight would be to buy the weight loss shakes he was selling.

I have received pretty decent care from the PA's, DO's, and NP's at San Marcos Family Medicine and the Fast Lane clinic, aside from being given a nasal swab that was ordered by Mia Painter, NP, without an explanation of what it was or what the (extremely high) cost of it was. The reason I have since left the office is because of Dr. Vip Mangalick. He does not give exams during visits, he sits in the corner and types away on his laptop, he has told me not to request refills for medication on the patient portal because those messages aren't looked at and that I need to call the office for refills. If you need anything from the office, trust me, you will have to call MULTIPLE times. Be prepared to hear "I will send a message to Dr. Mangalick". Riiiiiiiiiight. At my last visit, I asked for a dermatology referral and he referred me to a doctor that HE likes who is 45 minutes away from where I live. I reported my issues with TMJ/bruxism (grinding teeth) and he prescribed me something… like oragel and told me there were no doctors he could refer me to that I could get help from. He also told me to be careful or I would grind my teeth down. I also mentioned that I was around people for a week who had lice and he told me to get OTC lice shampoo. I said well, I don't know if I have lice. He said "Just don't worry about it then." He never got up from his seat to check my hair. There have been times where I have had to follow him out the door because I have had more questions and he has told me to hurry because he has other patients. An elderly friend of mine dealt with the exact same issues as me: no exams and rushing her out of the room. It is hit or miss on getting friendly staff. Sometimes when I check in I have to wait for the staff's conversations to end before I can check in. Some people are very nice and helpful but some will leave you on hold forever, which usually forces you to call back. I called and asked how much my records would cost because I needed them for a disability case. They quoted me a price but promptly stated that the person I meet with for my case will request them anyway. It's the government, so, I would rather take it into my own hands. Bottom line: I wish I could give this office a zero star review. I will never return and I will never recommend it.

Let me preface my review by saying I have been in the healthcare industry for 35 years and know a great deal about excellent patient care. I have never before had a problem with a physician or medical practice; however, my experience with Dr. Mangalick and this practice was negative, and very concerning. I will not be returning and encourage anyone seeking a compassionate physician who listens to your concerns and treats you with respect to go elsewhere. I found the medical assistant to be rude and condescending. I found Dr. Mangalick to be defensive, rude, and hasty. We were rushed through their "process" from the moment we walked in the door. During the appointment itself, Dr. Mangalick gave direct eye contact perhaps twice during the appointment. The remainder of the time, he spent reading from his laptop, typing into his laptop, and recording the appointment via the voice-activated charting system on his cell phone. He was defensive when challenged on an office process… which did not take the patient's needs into consideration or honor HIPPA regulations. His demeanor was angry, defensive, and unproductive. I am a Registered Nurse with over 30 years in the business of direct patient care, and I have never been treated as rudely and as unprofessionally as I was in this physician's office. I have no idea whether Dr. Mangalick is a knowledgeable physician or not, but I can tell you that the office practices and his bedside manner are inexcusable.

I have been dr mangalick for serval years now I like him very much. he seems to be up on the latest medical things . he has a great personalty I all feel good about seeing him

Dr explains conditions so one can clearly understand. Doesn't seem hurried. Good people person.

If you are a borderline diabetic or gaining weight, PLEASE do yourself a favor and see Dr Mangalick. But also, be willing to put in the work. You will have to prioritize your health so you can budget more money for better quality food… but it will be so worth it.

Wow. Just Wow. For years I have been getting told I was getting sinus infections all the time. That i was just “one of those people.” I’m SO mad now that I had two sinus surgeries… they did not seem to do squat! I just happened to try Dr Mangalick because he was on my new insurance plan and am ECSTATIC. I went in thinking I knew what I needed (and was probably a bit demanding/annoying because I thought I just needed another zpack… sorrrrry Dr M), but he taught me about what was really going on and how to fix it! Hahaha… ask him about Bags and Tubes!!

Dr Mangalick is great with kids! I’ve sometimes had to take my kids with me when they’re off on breaks, and they had been a bit disruptive. Instead of dismissing them though, or being annoyed with them, he gave them the attention they wanted and got them settled and was able to focus on my issue!

Fast, sloppy, and distracted. Poorly trained, combative, and cranky staff. There are stacks and stacks of weight loss items (blenders, food products) all over the office and in the hallways. The place looks like a warehouse and smells bad.
