Dr. Virginia K A Hustead, MD

Dr. Hustead graduated from the Honor's College at Michigan State University with a major in microbiology and public health. She received her medical degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. Hustead completed her general pediatric training at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and her neonatology training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Prior to coming to Children's Hospital of Minnesota, she held a faculty position at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Hustead has practiced neonatology at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota since 1990. She has a special interest in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and is the medical director of this program. Other special interests include the management of newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and apnea.
