Must have money problems

I’ve been seeing Dr. Fiks for 18 years, from before my injuries were identified to today where I feel better, do more, and enjoy more.

I’m so glad I didn’t let the negative reviews change my mind about keeping my appointment. I have seen Dr. Fik several times in the last year. True, it’s hard to get through on the phones or a message returned from the main switchboard. Keep trying to get your appointment, you won’t be sorry. Dr. Fik not only has a great deal of knowledge and truly wants to help relieve his patient’s pain, but he is also very kind, listens to you and does his best to help you. The staff are amazing, also incredibly kind, knowledgeable and there is a nurse there who is THE BEST at placing IV’s, even with my temperamental veins! Wes, who works in the office is amazing. He calls back when he promises he will, goes well beyond an extra mile and is one of the nicest guys ever! He is so helpful and if he doesn’t know the answer to something, he’ll find out and call back. Give this office a chance, they are wonderful!

Before I ever saw Dr Fiks they ran up my bill to nearly $1000! They have me urine test for drugs, ($400!), an EKG, (even my PCP couldn't imagine why since my heart is fine), and 5 minute balance test. So of this done by a non medically trained young man. Saw the doc for 10 minutes and it was clear he wasn't going to try to actually diagnose my problem. Bill total $1600! Progress made finding the source of my pain, zip zilch nada. Not going back. This is a bill factory.

I have been in the medical field for 35 years. I had to write this review to warn people not to go to this office. The scheduling staff is very rude and they don't listen. When I went in an assistant (his son) tried to do a urine test after I had already told them that I was in to talk about a procedure and not to get drugs. I then talked to Dr. Fix who wanted to order a balance test. I have no balance issues so I refused. I came back for an injection of steroids which didn't work but that's not his fault. When I came back for a follow up with the PA Dr. Shore, I was told that my next option was a nerve stimulator implant. For insurance purposes I was told I needed to have a psychiatric evaluation for the procedure, which I did. The DR ( I think) who did the exam told me the results would be ready in 2 days. It's now been 3 weeks and I have heard nothing and they are not answering the phone when I called today. If I had not known better I would have paid for a drug screen and a… balance test. I am not saying the Dr. Fix isn't good at doing procedures, but his ethics are questionable.

Dr Fiks sees very few patients, mostly he screens and refers to his of NPs. It hardly matters because you'll be treated like you're a hypochondriacal drug abuser and/or selling. I went there for over a year and even my internist agreed that he was purely in it for money. He pushes the most expensive opioids and pushes spinal blocks to line his pockets. He is demeaning and rude, and expensive. I didn't realize how awful he was until I went to another pain specialist who was kind and respectful. Fiks was neither.

Extremely poor communicator, Treated my husband like a drug addict instead of trying to help him deal with a chronic pain issue. All he wants to do is injections.

I would not recommend this doctor, and especially his treating staff, after a singular initial appointment with this dr. Referrals to PT and notes in file were detrimental, whereas I was injured when I was unknowingly scheduled with a PA unfamiliar with me and comments in records were unfounded and derogatory; after having a serious reaction to pain meds, I was told that it was unrelated to them. There is a turnover with staff with exception of the core group who are nominal in professional stds.

This doctor has a nice facility, and the magazines are ok. Dr. Fiks has a staff of people that are rude half the time and have very poor communication. It makes for a long drawn out time at the doctor, so clear your DAY if you go there. Since his facility is nice, that means he has to pay the extra money to keep that appearance. I've noticed that the prices he is charging for the visit hits every line item on sheet. I could not believe what I was seeing. I'm actually surprised the Ins. Companies let him charge what he does. I'm sure I can't put actual prices on this without getting in trouble, but it seems to me its not about really getting to know and help the patient, it's about getting people into their office so they can charge for everything, (probably charges for a tissue) that's how bad it is. I have been going to this doctor for a year now and my out of pocket keeps going higher and higher and I still feel just as bad as I did when I started going to him. Might even feel worse.… I have decided to find a new doctor because I don't feel like lining his pockets anymore. There are many others out there that take advantage of your situation like this doctors facility does. This place is take and rude, except the first day!
