I just returned from my daughter's 9 month checkup. The only question I had was how and when to introduce solid foods. The nurse told me that would be covered in the visit with the doctor. At Mayo you are first seen by a resident who does the initial visit. Afterwards another physician stops in to review the visit. The resident asked if I had any questions. I asked about how and when to start introducing solid foods she was actually stumped by my question. She said she had to ask her supervisor because my daughter only had four teeth. OK, no big deal. When Dr. Cook came in all he did was make faces at my daughter and spoke quickly about "too many carrots", no developmental issues, and for feeding "babies are messy, have fun". That was it. So the nurse wouldn't answer because the doctor would, the resident didn't answer because she wasn't confident in answering, and all I got from the doctor was "babies are messy, have fun". And I had to pay for this visit!!
