Dr. Walter Blair Greene, MD

I had 2 Bulged discs, and OsteoNecrosis of the toe, at 14. After COUNTLESS appointments, Dr. Greene finally gave us answers. And personal advice, on how to help it in the future. Would definitely recommend him.

I’m giving 5 stars because I appreciated everything Dr. Greene did and I don’t blame him, but I think some things could have been done differently. My son was born with bilateral hip displaysia. While only a few months old we had hip joint surgery which he ended up in a coma on life support and almost died after what we thought would just be a routine hip surgery. The hospital staff tried to blame us as the parents saying we got fecal matter in the hip surgical wound, but when we read the report the infection was under the body cast in the surgery wound and he went sick with the infection only a couple of days after surgery which was missed the first time we took him in to the ER. Nothing was done until he we only had an hour left to save his life. We never removed the bandaging and definitely couldn’t remove the body cast as we were told not to so we had no access to the surgical wound. The whole thing turned out to be a nightmare and I blame much of this on Cape Fear as they are… known for infection issues, but we left states after that and ended up having to do 3 years of body casts and total hip reconstruction surgery on that one hip because of this one routine hip surgery that went awry. It put our son behind for normal development. I just felt the treatments we started with were a bit aggressive for his age and some outdated like using plaster casts instead of fiber body casts. Plaster casts are way too heavy for a baby that age. We had no way of transporting our son in the car, were offered no way to, and after the incident home health care did not do their job and WE had to administer his heart IV’s every day. My son is going to have to have a hip replacement early on in life now. I’m not upset anymore, but like I said, I think some of the things could have been handled differently and the majority of it was how cape fear handled the incident. Dr. Greene came in immediately and performed the surgery to save his life and hip. We will always be grateful to him for that because we would not still be parents to our wonderful son today. The situation was not easy on anyone involved. I do believe Dr. Greene is a great doctor, but maybe Cape Fear is not really the best place, but unfortunately the only option for most doctors to conduct most surgeries in Fayetteville.

I've seen 6 or 7 Dr.s about the same problem and Dr. Green was the only one that made the correct diagnoses I'm glad that I make the correct decision,
