Dr. Walter Henry Halloran

Once I was told by my cardiologist that my aortic valve was critical due to stenosis we began a search for a good surgeon. Thanks to my wife's cousin who is a cardiac care nurse, she recommended Dr. Walter Halloran without hesitating. We called his office and talked with Terri in his office and she helped us obtain all the necessary information to review the condition of my heart. Shortly thereafter, we had a pre-op meeting with Dr Halloran and his assistant Christine. They explained in detail what would be done and how it would be done. After a few minutes, we felt like we had known him forever and he put all of our fears to rest. The day of the surgery, my family and friends were there to wish me well and the doctor talked to them to ease their concern also. During the surgery a nurse named Sue S. who is the Hospital Care Coordinator, met with the family and friends periodically in a private meeting room to let them know what was currently being done and what was next. Everyone… thought that was so considerate and comforting. The surgery ended around 6:00 PM Friday and I was back home Monday by 2:00 PM with no pain. I never took one pain pill even though they gave me some to take home. I should also mention my ICU nurse immediately following the surgery. I believe her name was Angela S and though she was very young, she was so caring, comforting, and professional and I could not have had a better nurse. Dr. Halloran is very nice, and put us at ease right away. He is also knowledgeable.

I needed open heart surgery and researched cardiothoracic surgeons locally, as well as in Chicago and Cleveland, and my full confidence came back to Dr. Halloran. My first experience was with his office staff, mainly Terri and Robin, who patiently and kindly answered all of my questions -- and there were many! Two friends accompanied me to my initial consultation/pre-surgery appointment with Dr. Halloran, and we all found him warm and easy to talk to, thorough in his explanation of what I should expect during and after surgery, and he had a very calming demeanor (which really helped my stress level). The three of us left there that day knowing every question had been addressed, confident that Dr. Halloran was "the one," and we knew we were "ready to roll." The surgery went beautifully, and his skill and expertise are evidenced by the speed of my healing and recuperation. He and his entire team were not only compassionate to me but it extended to my family as well. I appreciated that… even though he had many patients, when in my presence, he gave me his undivided attention. I highly recommend Dr. Halloran to anyone in need of cardiothoracic surgery.

Excellent surgeon. He takes time to explain things and answers all questions

This office is horrible and it starts with the office staff. Her name was Terri, and she was very rude and condescending. They do not "schedule" appointments, you have to come in when they call you which does not help when you have to plan around that. Then the Dr. rushes you out of his office like he doesn't care about you. He also told me "there is no way that you are in pain, and I don't believe you." He also said: "We can do the surgery, but your insurance will not cover it because I am going to tell your insurance that we don't have to have the surgery, you just "want" the surgery." Now who in the heck "wants" surgery. This guy is extremely rude. Funny, that we got a 2nd opinion and that Dr. stated that it was a good thing we got in for surgery or my husband could have ended up having a more things wrong with him. This office should be shut down!!!!!

I can attest to the fact that Dr. Halloran, and his entire team, truly adhere to that same code when it comes to their patients. I have experienced his caring, compassion, thoughtfulness, concern, integrity, and treatment that istruly second to none. His bed side manor is extraordinary.

He bed side manner when things went well after my father's surgery was satisfactory but when things took a bad turn he was very rude to our family and didn't talk to us . We were then only talked to by his nurses (occasionally) and he didn't come back in the room if a member of our family was with my dad. He made his rounds at 6am so he would not have to be bothered or questioned by family. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Halloran is an awesome surgeon and treats you like you wish everyone would treat you. I definitely credit him with saving my husband's life and keeping me in the loop about what was happening the entire time. I never once had to wonder where the heck the doctor was! He or one of his physician's assistants was continually checking on my husband and was always willing to answer any questions or address any concerns. I wish all doctors and surgeons were like him!
