Dr. Walter Ang Tan, MD

Dr. Tan is the most caring person and doctor I have ever met. It is an honor to be his patient . I can not thank him enough for the help, kindness and respect he has given to me. Due to insurance reasons I had to stop seeing him for a while. My health declined, but thankfully I can now see him again and again he has helped tremendously. I have been going to Dr Tan for the past 2 years, and he is by far the very best Dr I have gone to. He listens, he cares, he breaks things down for you so that you know what you should be caring about. He treats me as an intelligent human being that will understand when you remove all of the junk!! I love that encourages me to continue on making myself healthy, and I do it for the right reasons. I love Dr. Tan, and I am very blessed to have him as my Cardiologist!

I saw Dr. Tan today, 9-26-2925, to review the findings from my Stress Test and Heart MRI. Dr. Tan is very patient and explains all the information patiently in a way I can understand. During today's visit, Dr. Tan went over the stress test with me and assured me that everything was fine. Then he went over the heart MRI with me and explained patiently that everything was fine with my heart. He said that the heart murmur that I have had for decades was nothing to worry about. He suggested that I should take my blood pressure regularly since blood pressure is an important measure of heart health. I left Dr. Tan's office feeling that he cared about my wellbeing.

Dr. Tan takes the time to ask questions, to listen carefully to the answers, and most importantly, to explain the diagnosis, the treatments, and the goals of the treatments. I am a grateful veteran.

I am so glad I found Dr. Tan and he is my cardiologist. He is one of the most caring physicians I have ever met, and he wants to know you as a whole person. Dr. Tan provided me information on "Life's Simple 7" and encouraged me to start this healthy program. Needing to lose a few pounds, I took his advice and I have lost 10 pounds in 7 months. The program is easy to follow and I plan to stay on it. Dr. Tan seems to take extra time with patients at appointments, listens to any concerns, and patiently answers any questions. He has even phoned me on a Sunday to provide test results. I so appreciate Dr. Tan's care. He makes me feel like an important human being.

My journey with Dr. Tan has been amazing and productive. Through forward-looking approaches to whole body health with the heart as a focus, I have been able to lose weight, increase endurance levels, lower cholesterol levels, improve heart function, and normalize body functions. Dr. Tan introduced me to Intermittent Fasting which is a simple process of fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours. In addition to Intermittent Fasting, I incorporated daily exercise and a healthy diet. Subsequent testing results show my heart is functioning normally, pre existing conditions did not react negatively to testing, and some issues were resolved. Through Dr. Tan's guidance, I was able to achieve my goals and maintain them. My husband, who joined me in this quest and saw amazing results also, and I can remain active in life through dancing, tutoring, maintaining strong friendships and enjoying time spent with family. I am very grateful to Dr. Tan for giving me phenomenal health care with an… emphasis on me as an important human being.

Our grandmothers taught us to give the roses while they live correct. That is what I want to do for Dr. Tan. We were very concerned about switching from the private cardiologist to the VA cardiologist for my husband of 59 years, Billy Ray Staley. Hi along with my husband have been most pleased with Dr. Tan. He is most congenial and takes those extra minutes to answer and explain thoroughly our questions. We realize a doctors time is limited, but at least we don’t feel like we are on an assembly line with Dr. Tan. For this we are most thankful. We have no regrets in our switch!

I experienced first hand that expertise, support and professionalism are outstanding qualities of Dr.Walter Tan. His bedside manner is confident and reassuring. He took the time to explain my condition and addressed all of my concerns. His teaching inspired me to adopt a healthy life style and strive for wellness and longevity. I am grateful for Dr. Walter Tan and the excellent staff at Wake Forest Baptist Health.

My experience with Dr. Tan was great he was able to answer a lot of questions others were not. He took his time to evaluate and to talk to me, it is very rare that you find a physician that is not in a hurry. He asked about me as a person and how I was feeling he was just great he was able to get me in to see another doctor who was able to give me a diagnosis and as soon as he got test results back he was calling whether good or bad. Kudos Dr.Tan!

Dr. Tan is responsible for saving my brothers life. Due to his excellent care my brother will be around to share in the joy of my first born of my triplet sons wedding tomorrow!!! Thank you Dr.Tan
