Dr. Walter J Whang, MD

Whang seems knowledgeable but he is extremely unprofessional. He is very late for some appointments, misses some entirely, and when he does show up he's a mess. He has told patients that "there is no hope for them." I would strongly recommend another psych. He takes certain patients personally which is a terrible trait. He should be more mature and professional.

WOULD NOT recommend. This doctor treated my son. We would spend 3 hours on averge in the wating room. Each visit he prescribed a new medications without really giving the previous med decent time to work.

I only know Dr. Whang from him being the one who does my ECT treatments. I have had a lot of these treatments and from the start Dr. Whang has been the one who relieved a lot of my anxiety by talking to me about the procedure and exactly what would happen. He has a great bedside manner at the hospital before the treatment and he always listens to me about how I think things are going. He never pressures me to have more or less treatments but he works WITH me and takes my opinion into account as to if the treatments are working or if I need more etc. He always has a smile on his face and just makes me feel comfortable, I never feel judged by him and completely 100% trust him and his opinions. ECT has been a life saving treatment for me, and he has never pressured me to have them, I believe that if I were to say I wanted to stop, he would probably ask why and explain what he felt the psychiatric consequences would be, but he would ultimately let me make the final decision. Thank you Dr.… Whang for all you do, I appreciate you and your work.

Very insightful, could read me better than any other psychiatrist. Compassionate and truly cares. Was not afraid to offer his opinion in critical situations and provided *lifesaving* direction and safe harbor during some very dark and confusing days. Will not tell you only what you want to hear. Have been under his care from time to time for many years.

After living with manic depression for over 40 years I have been treated by a lot of psychiatrists, mostly good, sometimes really bad. Dr. Whang stands out in the crowd. What makes him really special is that he listens and treats me as an individual instead of looking in a book under Bipolar 1, prescribing the most common medicine suggested and sending me home. I never knew a doctor could impact my life so powerfully. I will always be grateful.

I've spoken to several psychiatrist I just have to say he is the best when it comes to treatment great understanding of clients and their needs easy to talk to always gives positive feedback and helps you understand your problem he has great character and integrity words cannot describe how thankful and grateful Iam for his help

He really brought me back to life!! I was dying in my addiction & he helped me detox & I really thank him, he was the best!!

I have never had a better psychiatrist! He knows his medications and is not a pill pusher! He takes his time with his patients and offers what I view as great therapy. He is also the Medical Director of Edwards Hospital, among his many positions. His reputation proceeds him all over the state of being #1 in his field. Great bedside manner which I find rare these days! As from rating previously had said he also saved my life. Thank you Dr.!

I think Dr. Whang is the greatest...he brought me back to life!!

I've been a patient of Dr. Whang's (on and off) for over 10 years, and he has always treated me with kindness and respect. He's very knowledgeable on the medical side of psychiatry, and not "just" a psychiatrist/drug-pusher. He keeps up on all of the latest news and developments in his field. Bright, intelligent, and innovative. He's never given up on me.He sometimes runs overtime, and waiting room times are often a little on the long side. It's worth the wait, though, as he will take the same time with you (if necessary) as he does with his other patients. I really have nothing negative to say about Dr. Whang. He's the man!
